With the Apple TV 2 no longer having YouTube support, it would seem to difficult for the developers to do this. YouTube have recently put their new data API in place, meaning that old devices are no longer supported. Therefore, the developers would have to work a way around YouTube’s new data API - which could be tricky, considering the Apple TV 2 was released in 2010. Even Kodi are cutting support for the Apple TV 2, as the device is now getting outdated.
