XBMC Questions

I've managed to jailbreak using GP, i then installed ATVFlash and everything has gone ok, wifi and everything is working fine. Could anyone please give me some advice on how to add sources (vids, music, photo's etc) to XMBC though? I have never used it before and it's all very new to me.........Any help or advice is greatly appreciated :-)

read the XBMC FAQ.  like at the top of this page I think.

I’ve the sane problem… No solution in XBMC faqs!I can’t find a guide for windows 7(there are different menu on the wiki)…someone can help us?

Go to pc…I have a windows vista machine…go to the folder of drive you want to share and right click…go to properties…go to share then to advanced…and tweak the settings to allow sharing…then XBMC add source…go to smb and find your network and the drive or folder you want to share…name the share ect…hope this helps…if you are sakes at any time for passwords or user names…go back to pc and check the security tab in the properties of that folder…I had to change that setting as well…

when i try to browse in smb server apple tv says error 2: share not available

Is your pc on the same wifi network?

yes...when i connect itunes with apple tv it works well...

R u sure you have the sharing settings correct? Check the share settings and click the security tab and make sure your allowing everyone…on a pc it will run a quick scan of the file…allowing sharing…

Everyone allowed yet…not working!there is a simple way to do it?

That is not a valid argument... Using iTunes to connect to the aTV isn't the same as sharing a folder since iTunes sets up the firewall to allow the connections on a seporate port. Basically apples to apples here. Your not connecting to iTunes with XBMC but a network share using SMB protocol.

The iTunes 6 or later libray can't be read with XBMC but that is another discussion entirely.

Setup a user on the pc - frontrow with the password frontrow. Setup sharing on the folder using this account and givre the share name something easy like "music or images" etc. with read only rights or use read/write rights so you can edit or rename & delete files from the XBMC menu if you feel the need. Then use the same user info to setup the source in XBMC and browse to the pc in the same workgroup there should be no problems.

If you enter the SMB path manually remember this is case sensative...

If you have issues check your firewall settings on the PC. Just disable it and see if you issues go away then. Setting up sharing should already do this for you but it is windoze...
