XBMC only streams ABC Iview but not Fox or others

Hi there,

I have jailbroken the ATV2 with Seasonpass, installed aTV Flash(black) last week and all working well. Even set up video and music files in XBMC.

I was intent on being able to watch ABC Iview and have down loaded the zip file via Cyberduck and put it in the correct place and “bobs your uncle”, it works. Great.

But I am unable to watch any other streaming content.

Do I need to down load any other plugins to do this? Or should XBMC update automatically?

Does the version of XBMC I installed last weekend require more tweeking? or have I done something wrong?

Is anyone aware of any other catch up TV links I can down as well?

I thought that I would be able to use the aTV Flash(black) browser but it is really is limited. Hence the desire to utilise XBMC. Please help.

ABC iView should be the Australian ABC and not the US ABC. Is this what you mean? I don’t think we have VPN capabilities yet through FireCore yet (like Tunnelblick – but I could be wrong) so if you’re in Australia, you won’t be able to watch US content. If you’re in the US and actually mean ABC, you might have more luck with Navi-X if you’re having difficulty with video plugins playing. I know I’ve had difficulty with some of the major network video plugins myself. Navi-X is included in one of the repositories found on http://wiki.xbmc.org/index.php?title=Unofficial_Add-on_Repositories but I can’t remember which one off hand. You can also download it directly from http://website.navi-x.org/index.html. Best of luck!

Thanks for the post.

Yes, I am based in Australia. I think I now understand that the content is limited to Australian content streaming unless I subscribe to a UK based VPN.

I’ll give your suggested plugins a try. Any more worthwhile?

Regarding VPN service, I really like WiTopia (http://www.witopia.net) – inexpensive and one yearly price gives you access to all of their servers around the world. They also have awesome support! However, unless you have a VPN router, you’re going to be out of luck with ATV2. I’ve been looking around and the closest I can find for iOS VPN client is GuizmOVPN (http://www.guizmovpn.com/). It’s only for the iPhone/iPod Touch/iPad. See http://bit.ly/mlfV98 for info on why it’s not available on the ATV2.

For Australian content, your best best is this repository: repository.googlecode.xbmc-catchuptv-au.zip (http://bit.ly/myMrQz). You might have more luck setting up a Plex server and a VPN on that computer to watch content on your ATV2 though honestly, I’ve found airplay from my iPhone works better. Otherwise, your best bet for watching programing outside your country is the Boxee Box, which has a built in VPN client. This may change in the future but at least for now, it’s the best I’ve been able to find. I wish I had better news for you but hope you’ll find something in this post helpful.

Best of luck!

You can try this, too: http://www.unblock-us.com/. I don’t know how well it works with ATV2.
