XBMC Install bricked my ATV2!!!!!

I was updating all my programs the other day and everything was installing fine — until I started installing XBMC.   It stopped halfway through and now my ATV2 is bricked!    Any suggestions on what I need to do?
Do I have to re-jailbreak it again?

Thanks very much for any help.

try just removing it…ssh in with putty and run this comand

apt-get remove org.xbmc.xbmc-atv2

reboot

i highly doubt that was the issue did you do it from nito update all ??? what firmware you on cause it could of updated Remotehd if you have it installed and it will look like its bricked try

aswell after a reboot this too

apt-get remove remotehd-atv2

I am not running the newest firmware.   I have to check the version, I don’t have that info handy right now.

I updated my ATV Flash and then was using Maintenance to update the various apps, like Plex, Media Player, etc. which all installed fine.   When I installed XBMC it just hung and I’ve never been able to boot the ATV since.

can you ssh in ??

it might look like it doesnt boot but it does you still should be able to ssh

Hi Mikey,   I had to work late last night so didn’t have a chance to mess around with it yet.  I’ll do so tonight.  Hopefully I can ssh in.

Having said that, do you think it is worth updating to the latest firmware at this point or just keep the last one?

now keep to what you got new look is horrible you can ask anyone here the wish they stayed…

is you are goona restore save ya blobs and you ifaith to dump them and use snow breeze to create your personal signed ipsw

sorry it took so long to do this…

I ran the SSH command you suggested – apt-get remove org.xbmc.xbmc-atv2    and it starts but hangs.   The message is:

Reading package lists…

Building dependency tree …

and then it just hangs there

Any idea what to do?   The ATV2 won’t boot;  I just get the Apple logo and then a black screen.   However, it is still connecting to wifi and i can SSH in.

you could always try first do an update

apt-get update

install dependencies

apt-get -f install

then upgrade

apt-get upgrade

then

reboot

When I do an update I get some errors, as follows:

Since nothing seems to be working, do I need to wipe the ATV2 and start from scratch?   Does that mean i have to re-jailbreak it as well?

Thanks!!!

Is there by any chance you ever copied anything over by ssh seems your permissions might be not right need to set them back

No – I didn’t SSH in until you gave me the instructions to do so.    How do I fix the permissions?  What should they be?

i personally would use ifaith and dump your blobs then build ipsw and then use snowbreeze to build custom ipsw then you will always have your signed ipsw so then you wont have to upgrade to 5.01
