I’ve seen friends ATV2 running XBMC with some plug-in to watch free movies online.
Is this possible if I buy aTV Flash?
My two ATVs are running 4.0 and 4.4.3 ios version software.
I don’t really need 5.0, but if it’s possible to do that using the new version, I could go with it.

No - ATV flash gives you no capabilities to play free movies. It is aimed at giving you additional ways to play media (video or audio) that you already have.
But, if I install XBMC and the proper plug-in, will I be able to do it?
Possibly - I do not use XBMC so cannot give a definitive answer. You do not need ATV Flash to be able to use XBMC.
