XBMC,ATV2,Airport Extreme,Ext HDD Cant see external hdd

Hi,

I am newbie and I am sure my issue is many other folks’ issue as well. I have the following setup:

  1. Laptop: Mac OS X SnowLeopard
  2. Router: Airport Extreme (latest version)
  3. Apple TV 2 Jail broken with the latest version of Green Poison and firmware 4.2.1
  4. External Drive: USB enclosed hard drive with three partitions of type Mac OS Extended (Journaled)

I am trying to add my usb external hard drive connected to my Airport Extreme as a video/movie source, but I am having no luck.  I have read many posts and here and there every one talks about part of this process but no one explains this process step by step, end to end.

A few questions:

  1. Does it matter the external hard drive is partitioned Mac OS Extended (Journaled) and not as FAT 32?
  2. Once you add a Video source and then you realize it didn't work and want to clean up, how do you delete and remove the faulty source you added?
  3. Can you add the DVD drive on your Apple MacBook as a source to read videos from?
  4. Can you play videos directly from Mobile ME account?

I AM BEGGING ONE OF YOU GURUS WHO GOT EVERY THING SORTED OUT TO SPREAD YOUR LOVE AND KNOWLEDGE OF THIS PROCESS STEP BY STEP.

Pleasssssssse, I really tried, but couldn’t :frowning:

I am not an expert but I have same set up but I have formatted my hdd with Fat32 and I can able to use SMB to see my HD. Also, I have WD Live player and

my passport (1tb NTFS Formatted) attached to WD Live and I can play movies from there to my apple TV2g. You can go to this website http://forum.xbmc.org/forumdisplay.php?f=137  for more detail. I think yYou can play DVD from MACBook but I havn't tried. Not familar with mobile ME account.

My USB disk attached to my extreme is journaled so you’re good there.
Does flash see your extreme router?
What error do you get when you try and view your files?
Did you put your username and password in?

Got this from a comment on the blog posting (no name so cant give credit).

“yep u can plus into your airport extreme and stream your media from there. i used the user name root and the the password for my airport extreme.”
