I’m French, and I love when the logo of the TV show I’m watching is the one I know.
But for many TV series, the one from Quebec (fr-CA) is showing up.
I did the investigation: the ‘fr-FR’ logo is just missing on TMDB. So, I uploaded it.
I waited TMDB cache to be updated, checked the API, everything is fine.
I delete all the metadata in Infuse but… the Quebec logo is still there!
There may be a delay before newly added artwork is available in the API (this can vary based on region and TMDB caching).
You can use the Refresh Metadata option in Infuse > Settings > Library to update artwork and metadata for all items in your library.
Also, if you happen to be connected to Emby, Jellyfin, or Plex Infuse would fetch the metadata and artwork that are stored on the server instead of getting info directly from TMDB. In this case, you would want to ensure the logo has been updated on the server first.
Thanks for quick response!
Of course I’m aware of that. I uploaded the fr-FR logo 8 days ago and I double checked today on the TMDB API and it’s there!
I’m having a hunch on the two available French variants on Infuse, maybe just “fr” is asked when the setting is “Français (France)”, and btw there is no “Français (Canada)”
You can also bypass TMDB entirely and add your own local artwork (posters, fanart, logo, etc…). This might be an easier than trying to navigate the quirks of the online databases.
Ooh this is gold! Thanks a lot! (sorry I haven’t found it by myself)
I just wanted to get some kind of attention on the TV metadata especially. I know it’s working fine with movies though, however the TMDB endpoint is different for TV shows as the dev added the region support not that long ago. Maybe a trick somewhere.
That’s all for me, your reactivity is legend!
Cheers
I made further investigation on TMDB API, because setting up all French images manually is very painful. Infuse should really respect the user preferences.
TMDB sorts correctly the images: ‘fr-FR’ and ‘fr-CA’, and the API endpoints give the correct images. But Infuse uses ‘fr’ instead of ‘fr-FR’ in the query params for the content logo.
Please put in the backlog in high priority (quick win!) a change of language support: just replace the ISO_639_1 language code by the full region code in the TMDB request: fr-FR and fr-CA.
Also in the Infuse language menu, make a clearer difference : “Français (France)” and “Français (Canada)”. Second one is currently “Français”
EDIT: both ‘fr’ and ‘fr-FR’ tried on dozens of movies/TV shows on TMDB API: THIS is the quirk!
The same happens with Portuguese. There is pt-PT and pt-BR. The 2 are under “Portuguese” but Infuse only fetches the general “Portuguese” instead of pt-PT and pt-BR which means somebody in Brazil may end up with the Portuguese poster and someone in Portugal may end up with the Brazilian poster. And most of the times, the titles translations are different between Portugal and Brazil.
Some movies that get scraped are showing the wrong poster on Infuse on TVOS. Examples are The Shawshank Redemption (1994) or Bring her Back (2025), the metadata language to use is defined as Portuguese (Portugal) and posters showing instead of being the ones for PT-PT are for PT-BR.
Does Infuse not support the difference between PT-BR and PT-PT?
