I know this has been requested before (last year). The wired keyboard/mouse is a big improvement, but controlling everything from across the living room on my couch is the final frontier. I’ll try the iPod Touch remote solution to see if I like that any better.

I second that - I haven’t even updated my unit as yet, but I can tell you right now a wireless keyboard / mouse option is the way forward. :slight_smile:

I’ve got a wireless keyboard/mouse connected to my Apple TV via Usb. The keyboard is like a laptop with a trackpad built in. I can use it from across the room with no cables. Have you not tried one of these?

 Hi i have bought the Keysonic 2.4GHZ  RF and got the latest ATV flash on my apple TV.

But apple tv is still not recognizing my keyboard.

Can any one tell me the detailed step to connect it to Apple tv.

2 things you may want to check - 

1. Run Smart Installer through Maintenance --> Settings menu.

2. Install Keyboard Magic through Maintenance --> Manage Plugins menu.

Hello, I'm in the process of getting an ATV, does the keyboard work so that a person doesn't have to use the remote to type in letters for the search areas?

Yes, a real keyboard can be used to enter text on the AppleTV.  Just be sure to install 'Keyboard Magic' through the Maintenance --> Manage Plugins menu.

Maintenance, on ATV2 does not have the Keyboard Magic option. Is this only for the original Apple TV?

Yes, Keyboard Magic is currently only available for the 1st gen (silver) AppleTV.

On my ATV2 I have had no problem installing the Bluetooth stack via NitroTV, and then using a Keysonic Bluetooth keyboard.

I continually get the message "An error has occurred" Press Play/Pause to restart Apple TV.

I have removed and re-installed twice! Any clues?

As per previous posts I have done the following:

  1. Run Smart Installer through Maintenance → Settings menu.
  2. Install Keyboard Magic through Maintenance → Manage Plugins menu.

Keyboard Magic says it is enabled however I am still not able to get my Apple USB keyboard to be recognised by my Apple TV.

Any pointers on how to make it work would be appreciated.
