This is absolutely annoying - so let’s say I import season 3 of Star Trek Classic Series with my Mac, click the “update metadata” button on the top right, and all seems fine - the three seasons are displayed correctly.
Then I go to my iPad in order to watch said content with Infuse, and it’s not there. I have to MANUALLY see the library and tap on the Star Trek folder to somehow have it appear on the main screen.
How can this be?
Apple limits the amount of background refreshing apps can do. Sometimes it’s fast and other times not so much.
But it’s not about background refreshing - I am opening Infuse on the iPad and expecting it to read the latest updated info, by clicking on the top right update arrow - and nothing updates.
This is sort of why a lot of people use Plex or Jellyfin.
Just found a potential solution - to go to settings, “library” and “scan for changes” a few times until the content shown in the remote device matches the one in the Mac.
It would be useful if the moderators could explain why this is needed.
Just to add that sometimes you can “Scan for Changes” until you’re blue-in-the-face, but the changes never seem to take.
I’m currently building a NAS media server with over 8000 items, many of which have no TMDB record. Several I had painstakingly added were removed due to not being in total compliance of their bible, which is clear to them but not so clear to me. Work is hard enough, but double work is twice as hard, so I chose to create local data for anything not already on TMDB. I have found, during de-bugging, that I’ve had to use the “Refresh Metadata” option, which completely rebuilds the metadata record. This is also under “Library” settings.
It can be a long process but usually results in a smaller metadata file. I suspect this is due to Infuse updating existing record by tacking on changes, rather than overwriting them, and at some point, inefficiencies show up. The Refresh gives a clean record.
