When Mac’s ip changes, the server can’t connect

Hi. Running jellyfin on my MacBook. When its ip changes, infuse can’t connect to it and I have to re-add the share. Very annoying as this happens almost every time I come home. Please fix

Try changing from the IP number to the network name. That may not work if your router doesn’t release the old IP and gives the network name a version number.

Best thing is to set a static IP address for your server.

Thanks. I’m not sure how to change to the ‘network name’. Could you elaborate? And if I set a static ip on the MacBook it won’t connect to some work WiFi I go to

You wouldn’t be setting a static IP “on” the MacBook, you’d be setting a static IP on your home router “for” the MacBook so every time you connect to your home network it’d always assign the same IP address to your MacBook.

This is assuming you are using your MacBook as the server where you store your files to stream to your other devices at home correct?

Thanks very much for the guidance! I’ve get it on my router. Hope that fixes it :crossed_fingers:
