What advantages does DolbyVision CMv4.0 have compared to CMv2.9?

Sorry if this is a beginner’s question. I only recently started reading topics about Dolby Vision on this forum, and I learned that as of the latest version of Infuse, it supports Profiles 5 and 8, but not Profile 7 (MEL or FEL).

So, I was planning to convert my Profile 7 files into Profile 8. On my current ATV 2011 model, files converted with CM v2.9 play back in Dolby Vision just fine, but files converted with CM v4.0 are not supported (as James said)

What I’m wondering is: does converting to CM v4.0 make the version closer to the original compared to CM v2.9, or is it simply a compatibility issue? Could someone explain this?

P.S. In a new version of Infuse, can we expect support for Dolby Vision Profile 7? Or should we place our hopes on a new Apple TV instead? It’s just a hopeful thought.

Sorry for my bad English, I’m a foreigner.

It’s disappointing enough that no new Apple TV hardware was announced, but what’s even more disappointing is that, despite the Apple’s powerful hardware and the excellent Infuse software, it’s still impossible to enjoy content at the highest quality (Dolby Vision FEL movies, lossless TrueHD Atmos, etc.).

I recently realized that there are more FEL movies than I thought.

Do you think these limitations could ever be improved in the future?
