I’m not sure I understand the issue you are running into here.

Direct Mode is a feature that allows you to browse a remote Emby, Jellyfin, or Plex server without having to cache details about those files on your device.

Along with Direct Mode you have the option to download videos for offline playback, and those would also be shown in the app - but with cached metadata and artwork.

I also struggle with the same issue: files that I’ve downloaded from direct mode do not propagate watch status (partial, fully watched) back to direct mode. What happens is direct mode overrides any watched data upon first sync.

I haven’t had this issue on WebDAV playback.

Okkay in other words

Why the downloaded media for offline playback not syncing in progress with the online server content in direct mode … i hope ya get my point

That’s exactly what ive been through

I’m seeing the same. If you watch a downloaded video when you’re offline / not connected to your server, once you reconnect to your server Infuse will forget all of the watch history of your downloaded files. It should instead update your direct mode server with the watch data that you accrued while you were offline.

@james, any update on this?

@James can you please let QA team repro the issue?

I have infuse in direct mode with an emby server. If i watch anything on my ipad downloaded through infuse while offline, it keeps track of watch history until i get back home. The moment my iPad reconnects to the server, it syncs the server data back to the iPad, instead of the other way around, thus losing all watched progress.

In other words: direct mode overrides any watched status in offline mode once it reconnects. Happens every single time. It should see what watched status is ‘newer’ and thus use the iPad’s data and sync that back to the server.

any response to this? i watch a lot through infuse in the plane, so it’s content downloaded offline and i watch while offline. when i get back home and have wifi it just loses all progress made and syncs the wrong way around. watch status then is back to what it was on the server, instead of the other way around!

Any update or acknowledgement on this? I’m watching half my content while offline and every time I have to manually remember where exactly I stopped watching, and marking previous episodes as watched. The iPad just completely forgets and syncs back old server data, especially annoying if offline a few days and multiple movies / episodes are out of sync.

I have this issue too, there’s a thread about it here:
