ah thats a shame is this a feature that will come ?
I guess I may not understand what you are looking for.
If you browse using Infuse’s Library, then you can browse via a single location to access content from all your Plex libraries together.
If you want to browse these Plex libraries separately then you can create a favorite for one or more of the libraries which would appear on the Home Screen.
You an also use a combination of the two, so you could have Favorites for each Plex library as well as Favorites for certain Infuse library categories.
Does this help?
I want to archive a similar situation like in plex where i have 4 different categories with his collection inside. the provided solution does work for the different categories, but the collection are not there, so instead of as a example 16 movies in one collection so the movies are all hidden and only the collection is visible in the category, all the 16 movies are visible in the category. For one collection there is no problem, but i have a few of them.
sorry if i am explaining it a little strange, english is not my native language but I’m super grateful for the help here
This is one area lacking with collections. No way to have the collection folder in-line with other movies.
oh ok strange, do you now if this is planed ?
Thanks for the explanation.
This isn’t possible right now, but I’ve moved your post to an existing thread in the suggestions area.
thx then i will wait, for now i will take the official app till it comes
For those of us that primarily manage our library in Plex and want to make Direct Mode in Infuse our primary way of accessing our library, this would be HUGELY helpful.
I understand Collections aren’t supported yet – for some reason “playlists” were prioritized first, which are surely less commonly used to organize a library…
In any case, I really hope that when Collections are eventually supported, that this includes Smart Collections. In Plex, Smart Collections are basically Collections that have dynamic criteria. They are the ultimate power user function. If you want to have a section of your Home Screen that shows media that meets very specific criteria, you could. Just set it up in Plex and add it from Infuse. That would be great.
Use cases:
- Automatically generate collections of horror movies from the 1980s
- Automatically generate collections of certain directors or actors
- Automatically generate collections of TV shows with unwatched episodes
- Automatically filter out “watched” from any collection (e.g., if you’re working through a backlog)
This alone would solve a lot of the shortcomings of the current Direct Mode integration by unlocking a bunch of functionality for Plex users. I understand that the ability to “browse” a direct library is coming too, which is table stakes, but I believe that this is the feature that will make direct mode truly sing. Just wanted to create a separate thread to make sure it is considered.

Developer details:
- In the Collections API, there is a field that indicates if something is a Smart Collection
- This is probably a lot simpler to implement than re-inventing all the same filters in the Infuse UI via a library browser – and also a lot more useful, because they are saved become part of the UI vs. an ad hoc exercise.
@beastlybeast I also thought that Collections (Smart or other) weren’t supported at all, however I stumbled across something on the weekend where a collection that I had created was on the Infuse home screen. This puzzled me somewhat, but a great outcome, now Infuse in direct mode is working just find, in that I can see a list of unwatched TV Shows & Movies sorted by date (something you can’t do in direct mode).
Apologies if you already knew this, just figured I’d put some further words and screen shots around this, as I’m sure many others are equally conf-Infuse-d as I was (couldn’t resist the pun, I do blame Plex for making collections very difficult to understand and impossible to discover).
<the following is a plex server discussion, nothing to do with Infuse>
Be aware that some oddness exists with Collections and pinning to Home (hence showing up in Infuse home also). From what I can tell, once you have setup a Collection, do not rename it. Things get weird, specifically if you select Home under Manage Selections, the setting will be forgotten.
To avoid, setup your Collections (I have three TV Shows Un-watched sorted by last episode release date, Movies Unwatched and Movies Kids - Unwatched both sorted by release date) and don’t fiddle with them, just delete and re-create if you need to re-name (I think updating filters is fine).
I’m so happy now I’ve found this work around, Infuse is at last usable, ie giving me the ability to see lists of Movies or TV shows by date.
For most of my needs, I now never need to stray away form Home Screen at all
Homescreen:
Example of the Smart Collection filter I’m using:
Settings/Libraries/Managed Recommendations (you need to hover over library on the right side) where you turn on Home visibility for each Collection you create:
GREAT DISCOVERY! This should have been in the release notes as it makes Direct Mode 1,000% more usable in its current state.
Please support Plex TV Collections. I find it verry stange to a media center service woult support movies but not TV shows. The content I watch mot are tv show and on Plex I click on a collection and hit shuffle and binge. Infuse would be perfect if it only supported that.
It’s not perfect but the method in the posts above does support TV collections.
That does not really seem like a good fix. I just need infuse to support my already created tv collections that in plex like they do for movies.
They were just offering a temporary solution to get you through until this feature is implemented. (Note this suggestion is tagged as “planned” so it’s in the works.)
If it doesn’t suit your needs then hang in there till the fix is released.
Sometimes it’s hard to tell if Plex is an Infuse addon or Infuse is a Plex addon. Maybe they should just merge. LOL
The ability to access movie and TV show collections from Plex while browsing libraries directly is now available in today’s 7.7.4 update.
Hi James!
How is this new feature working? I don’t seem to find options that would let me access the multiple movie collections I have in Plex.
I still can’t find a way to have a row on the home screen containing all the collections, and I don’t see anything when navigating the folders I have designated as favorites.
The older way of publishing individual collections to the Plex home screen (to then adding them in Infuse) still works, but it’s like it was since the beginning of direct mode, meaning that each individual collection takes one row.
How can I access my Plex collections? Or am I misunderstanding what this new feature actually means?
Edit:
Ah! I see I can find them by searching. Apologies, generally speaking, my workflow doesn’t lead me to search much. Are there any other ways to find and/or display collections?
Collections from Plex can either be pinned to the Home Screen (they must first be pinned to the Home Screen in Plex), found via search, or accessed inline when browsing movie and TV show libraries.
When browsing a library, collections will appear inline with your movies/shows.
I’ve posted a few screen shots above to help guide you, just match these to the instructions that James has kindly shared.
is there a way to add a collection to favorites yet ?
