@James – Will this be only for the tvOS – and NOT for the iOS versions of Infuse?
Sadly, I converted my entire collection from .ISO format (with accessible subtitle tracks) to .m4v with Handbrake about 5 years ago (version 0.9.8 from 2012 - before they removed some of the codecs) using an AppleTV 2 profile. I even burned-in the subtitles, so I didn’t have to rely of various players to be able to access a subtitle track.
I can say that I am NOT pleased with the resulting loss of video fidelity (the colors and visual artifacts are annoying) or the muddying of audio.
I did the conversion from .ISO to be able to use Infuse on my various iOS devices, but I must note that XBMC (even the old Frodo version) has played .ISO’s just fine for at least 5 years. (I still have XBMC Frodo on my jailbroken ATV2).
UPDATE: I’ve spent some time with the latest VLC app on my iPad. It plays .ISO files fine – but it doesn’t seem to have library/metadata support out-of-the-box. One thing that nobody seems to get right it playing “forced” subtitles.VLC will play the subtitle track, but does not have the ability (that I can tell) to only play the parts marked “forced” (tested with subtitle track 1 of “Magnificent 7”). @James – when you guys redo subtitles I hope you’ll handle this correctly.
Hi. I’ve just tried the new beta (thanks for including me). Unfortunately the thing many of us have been waiting for does not work. VIDEO_TS folders are not read in spite of promises. Or am I doing something wrong ?
Just signed up for Infuse Pro trial, but could not get VIDEO_TS folder with VOB support (i.e. DVD with multiple episodes). Is there anything public you can share with regards to VIDEO_TS folder support (I received Access Denied when attempting to view the Beta thread linked above.
