I’m trying to use Infuse (subscribed to a month of Pro to try it out) with my Jellyfin library, on AppleTV (since the Jellyfin app on AppleTV is pretty horrible right now).
I’m having a pretty annoying issue that I can’t figure out and that’s making the wife very annoyed..so for my sanity trying to get it sorted.
I have Jellyfin added in Library mode (but also tried Direct mode, same thing). The problem I’m facing is that some posters on On Deck are not showing (they are showing if you to to the Library and to the show). They show absolutely fine in Jellyfin. I’ve tried removing Jellyfin share, re-adding, refreshing all metadata.. Nada, nothing works.
What I suspect is happening is that there is no specific season poster for some of these shows on TMDB, so it’s showing a blank poster instead of the general show poster.
Anyone know how I can fix this? It’s incredibly annoying.
Attaching an image of Infuse home screen showing the missing posters.
Thanks
Since I’m a new user and can’t attached more than 1 image, here is another one of Jellyfin itself showing the poster for both the show and the season (albeit the season one is generic).
Hey @james thanks for the reply. Shouldn’t Infuse default to the series poster if the season poster doesn’t exist (for On Deck) or is there a setting to force this? This seems like it would be a sensible default to avoid blank images. Not all seasons have season posters.
For example, in Jellyfin, I see the default series poster for Season 1 of Small Achievable Goals, but there is no season poster image file in the folder itself. In fact, even TMDB doesn’t have a season poster for this (Small Achievable Goals (TV Series 2025- ) — The Movie Database (TMDB)), but Jellyfin handles it much more gracefully than Infuse apparently does (even Plex, Emby, all other clients do this).
I’m having the same issue and I’m sure it’s caused when Jellyfin doesn’t have an image for the season. As soon as Jellyfin has an image for a season it will show in Infuse.
It would be really nice if Infuse could do the same as Jellyfin and fall back to the image of the TV show instead of displaying no image at all.
Each has it’s strengths, direct stops Infuse from messing with fetching metadata and organizing things. For that you get to curate your library and how it appears and you use jellyfin to determine what is shown for artwork. In Library mode Infuse utilizes Infuse library categories and filters and Infuse will then fetch the artwork and have more interaction with the files.
This users guide has a bit more detail on the differences.
I’d like to not derail this conversation if possible please.
Would like to have someone provide input on if Infuse can do like every other media player (Plex, Emby, Jellyfin, Kodi, etc.) by falling back to the show poster if the season poster does not exist.
As it stands, it’s not ideal from a user experience perspective having missing icons when a show icon clearly exists and can be used.
I’m not even sure how to solve this temporarily (other than using Direct mode which I would prefer not doing). Are there any software that can manually create the season posters in the folders of the media to work around this Infuse limitation? I know Sonarr and other solutions do images, but not if they are also missing from TMDB or other source.
