UX Improvement Proposal for Search Results on iOS

I would like to suggest a functional change to the iOS app that I believe would improve the overall user experience and better align it with how most similar apps function.

Currently, when searching for a movie or show in the iOS app and selecting a result, playback begins immediately. I believe it would be more intuitive if selecting a title instead directed users to the detail page that displays additional information such as the trailer, cast, ratings, and other available options. From there, users could still choose to press “Play” if they wish.

At the moment, this detail page (Image) only appears when selecting a title from the Home page. Making it accessible directly from search results would allow users to review information before starting playback. This would be especially helpful when recommending a movie or show and wanting to quickly view ratings, cast members, or other details.

I believe this would be a simple but meaningful enhancement to the overall user experience. I would be interested in hearing what others in the community think.

You can change this behavior by switching from List View to Grid View. This can be done by tapping the grid icon while browsing a list of files in the app.

Thank you for pointing that out. I was not aware that switching from List View to Grid View would change the behavior when selecting a movie or show.

That said, I still see this as a potential usability issue. In my view, changing between List and Grid should only affect how the content is displayed, not alter the function of tapping a title. Ideally, List View should behave the same as Grid View when selecting a movie or show, directing users to the detail page rather than automatically starting playback.

I appreciate the clarification and wanted to share this additional perspective.
