using external HD on first gen, need help

i plugged in my external hard drive and nothing happens, i used the file directory and it doesnt come up, how do i access it please help

Hopefully you got resolution to your question - about how to get an external hard drive connected to your ATV Flash.  if not send me an e-mail  btimbers@prodigy.net.  I have been using this function for years with no issues

2nd gen user here…monoprice doesn’t stock any adapters to change my regular USB male to a microUSB male. I assume that would be the first step in getting everything setup…anyone care to chime in?
