Still an issue on 26.5 for me too. New, weird behaviour like two separate shares appearing for each user.
Yup, they could do it MONTHS if not years ago. Topic with requests was few years old, then apple did most od the job with their version of profiles and here we go.
Cards on top arr still broken, switching doesnât work I cant leave it on for kids as they might finish watching punisher. I am looking and old nvidia shield, appletv is nice but I am sick being so restricted by apple/infuse approach. Or will simply move to Moonlight and Jellyfin as at least they seems to care.
I also decided to support the internal implementation of multi-user by infuse instead of Appleâs own multi-user, which also helps avoid the problem of iCloud sync: in our groupâs user experience, the TV only uses the same iCloud, and doesnât log into family membersâ iCloud accounts. The multi-user implemented by infuse broke our experience, but we had to tolerate it. However, this time the Apple update broke it for a long period, and infuseâs inability to handle it is hard to accept. Meanwhile, the Topshelf issue has been nearly a year, but the development team has never addressed it. The other five or six software I use, including Apple TV streaming, do not have the Topshelf problem. Itâs really baffling that infuse attributes the Topshelf issue to system reasons.
Itâs really starting to annoy me. The fact that it almost never works on the AppleTV is one annoying thing. But whatâs really annoying me now: iCloud sync on the devices (iPhones) for Infuse was specifically turned off so that I could set up two different Jellyfin users on the two different devices. Apparently both devices have now decided that it would be much cooler to turn on iCloud and now both accounts are mixed up and I have to correct the progress again. This has never happened to me with other Jellyfin clients like e.g. Vidhub, because they simply donât rely on Appleâs broken implementation, which (somewhat predictably) doesnât work. The fact that firecore still hasnât found a solution here, or built in their own user management, is also extremely customer-unfriendly.
Release the 27 system immediately, when Apple doesnât fix this issue, maybe we wonât be able to use this feature for years ![]()
Hi guys, I am new to infuse and i am migrating from Plex at the moment. tvOS is important for me and so are profiles. Plex has integrated profiles, you select when you start the app. I love the idea of using the tvOS profiles, but it is completely broken for me. I use emby server, but that should not matter. If i switch profiles, it sais âSwitching ProfilesâŚâ but nothing happens; it is always the same profile i created when I first set it up. I tried everything I could find, resetting, etc. Nothing helped.
Will this get fixed anytime soon? Maybe just implement native profiles? If not, for me this is a showstopper, I cannot use this without profiles. We both want our own profiles. Do I need to continue using Plex :(?
Hey @ikon , profiles are important to my family too. I actually need to purchase another Infuse lifetime subscription but now Iâm hesitant.
I highly recommend that you take a look at Plezy. Itâs available for almost all platforms. Watch Together is implemented on all platforms too, unlike Plex who is removing it from their new apps. Plexy works with Jellyfin and Plex. It supports multiple profiles natively.
No solution here and no communication, so take their actions at face value, not their words. ![]()
Sorry, there may be a little bit of confusion around which profiles are broken and which are working.
TL;DR - To switch between Plex profiles on-the-fly from within Infuse you can long-press on the purple Plex server icon which appears on the Infuse Home Screen.
Infuse supports both Plex profiles (created on the Plex server) and Apple profiles (created on the Apple TV). As of this moment, there is a bug which is affecting Appleâs profiles and this affects all apps on the Apple TV, not just Infuse. We have submitted an official report to Apple with detailed information and a sample app which they can use to easily replicate the issue on their end. We remain optimistic that they will address this issue in an upcoming version of tvOS, but there is little we can do to directly affect this change.
Aside from whether you are using Apple profiles or not, you can switch between Plex profiles from within Infuse (when connecting to Plex in Direct Mode). This would be similar to how Plex (and probably some other Apple TV apps work) that do not include support for Apple system profiles.
This used to work for me, but now I get the âOops! Infuse is no longer able to access your account since the access token has been revoked.â error when trying to switch profiles in-app.
I could probably fix it by âforgettingâ the Plex share and adding it again, but that seems a bit pointless at the moment since the custom home screen layout still isnât preserved when switching profiles in-app (unless I missed something in the changelog?).
Thank you all for replying, this sounds like it wont get fixed anytime soon, therefore my plan to buy lifetime (i do not like subscriptions) is void for now. @james I do not use plex server, I use emby. I want to migrate away from Plex. It sounds like you are not even aware of the problem at hand? If you use emby server, switching tvOS profiles does absolutely nothing. And as i mentioned, I cannot use the same profile for me and the other members of my household.
On the latest tvOS 26.6 developer beta, profile switching with my Jellyfin setup seems a bit more reliable.
If I switch Apple TV users too quickly, Infuse can still get confused, but if I leave a little time between switches it generally works correctly. From a fresh reboot, itâs been solid so far.
The Top Shelf issue remains, but thatâs a separate problem.
Personally, Iâd prefer to see the Apple TV profile integration fixed rather than moving to native Jellyfin/Emby/Plex profiles.
So, not fixed at all.
I had no idea Infuse supported Plex profiles directly, nice! However, is there any way to disable the Apple profile function? Every time my kids change the Apple profile thereâs a good chance that it mangles something and I need to re-add/delete libraries or shares.
I lay all the blame on Apple for largely ignoring tvOS, but it definitely degrades the Infuse experience.
You can disable it globally, but not per app
I really do not get one thing. People have been asking for infuse profiles(connected to plex/jelly/emby) profiles for years. You did nothing with it, then once apple introduced their way kf profiles you opted for that as majority of work was already done.
I do not want to criticise, but this was not a best move. Apple profiles are completely broken, my kids canât watch anything alone as they would have full access the to the server. I am not going to buy lifetime now, if that is the future I wonât extend infuse for another year, especially when we now have more and more reliable players.
Unfortunately, I have to agree with the other users and say that the app is currently unusable for me. My girlfriend and I both use separate Jellyfin profiles. Switching between Apple profiles is very unreliable. The mixing of the history and ârecently viewedâ sections is very confusing. Weâve switched to a different app. Iâll keep following this thread for a while. But if thereâs no development/fix, Iâll cancel my subscription to Infuse.
Yeah, same for me here. Different profiles including small kids. Still unusable at the moment.
Iâll keep the subscription, but sadly will have to drop it, if this doesnât get fixed.
I hope to complete multi-user in infuse app, not use apple multi-profile, because in-infuse mutil-user is can be use at iOS/macOS/Pados , not only to use in Apple TV
Having thought about it more, I actually agree with this now.
I use Infuse a lot on iPad, where Apple profiles donât exist. Native multi-user support in Infuse would work across tvOS, iPadOS, iOS and macOS, so it makes sense to prioritise that.
