Updated to tvOS 26.4 and Infuse 8.4 today so unsure which change broke this. User switching no longer isolates changes. Both users are logged into the same jellyfin library whereas previously they had separate users. Removing a share for one user removes it on the other also.
iCloud sync was on, but this issue occurs with it turned off also.
User switching on tvOS is also broken for Plex Home account switching, as I mentioned in this thread. I installed an older 8.3.8 TestFlight build, and it’s similarly unreliable there.
I’m not 100% certain, but I’m inclined to think this is due to Apple’s buggy implementation. User profile switching feels half-baked, to put it mildly: for example, the App Store region sometimes doesn’t change when I switch between users, along with the other issues I listed in the linked thread.
I have the same issue with the new update / tvOS 26.4. Profile switch isn’t working anymore. It shares the same settings. With 26.3 there was no issue.
We’ve seen a few reports of this when installing tvOS 26 updates. It’s not clear why this happens, but since profiles are handled at the system level it’s likely something that is affecting all apps on your device.
Some users have said the issue was resolved by logging out of their Apple ID(s) and back in, while others say that a full factory restore was required.
I tried both removing the second user profile from the appleTV and factory resetting before adding each account back one at a time. When I added the second account it already has the settings of the first.
The account switch is acting really weird with the new update. My girlfriend and I have come up with the following workaround: When Infuse is running, we wait until the sync is complete. Only then do we switch accounts. In most cases, this works and the settings are applied correctly. If it doesn’t work, it helps to simply repeat the process once or twice. Then it works as well.
We had also re-linked my girlfriend’s account beforehand.
have the exact same issue, re-linking accounts and/or swtiching between library and direct mode doesn’t help. Sometimes it helps when you restart the apple tv itself.
Also, it seems that when you try multiple times to switch the profile they start to appear the other way arround considering which apple user is currently on.
Waiting until the scan is completed suggested above doesn’t seem to do a thing for me unfortunately
re-logging in tvos also did not help, not planning on factory reset for now as someone above said that didn’t help either, anything you can do from your end? it’s something we use pretty much daily
After updating to iOS 26.4 and Infuse 8.4, I’m having an issue with multiple users on the tvOS app.
Infuse doesn’t always switch to the proper profile when switching accounts on Apple TV. This was working perfectly fine before updating to iOS 26.4 and Infuse 8.4. I cannot tell if this is an Infuse or tvOS bug since I updated to both at the same time. To fix the issue, I have to keep changing profiles and force quitting the app (or restarting my Apple TV) to have Infuse open the correct profile.
I’ve been using Apple TV profiles since they were integrated into Infuse, particularly since creating profiles for kids became possible. Everything was working perfectly until the TVOS 26.4 update.
Has this update changed something that prevents Infuse from recognizing the profiles correctly?
Now, all my profiles appear mixed up and overlapping. I’ve tried everything, including a full reset of my Apple TV and disabling iCloud sync, but nothing seems to work.
I have profiles for myself (Apple account), my wife (Apple account), and my daughter (not an Apple account). Switching between these profiles never produces the expected result, regardless of the combination I try.
Yeah, user switching is broken on 26.4. On my Apple TV it would occasionally fail on older versions as well, but since the update it’s become completely unreliable. Here’s the workaround I have to go through just to get some use out of this feature:
Before switching profiles, quit Infuse (I swipe it away in the multitasking view, which seems to slightly improve the chances of a successful switch).
Switch the user profile.
Launch Infuse and check whether the home screen layout has changed. It only works ~20% of the time.
If it hasn’t switched, restart the Apple TV (Settings → System → Restart).
Select the user on startup (I have “Profile on Wake” enabled in Settings).
For my use case (I mainly use Plex with managed accounts), I’d immediately stop using tvOS user switching and rely on the in-app switching instead, but unfortunately, home screen customizations aren’t preserved when switching users within the app.
Because of that, I really hope the devs find a way to tie home screen customizations to user profiles in the future. Otherwise, while Apple might eventually fix this (and the other issues I mentioned in another thread), I wouldn’t count on it happening anytime soon.
I can replicate this. Two full resets of my Apple TV 4K have sadly not resolved the issue. Between resets I also fully removed Infuse backups from the respective iClouds. Once everything was set up again (including waiting for sync in Infuse to finish for every user profile) it’s back to the same issues.
Switching profiles does not switch the profile inside Infuse. Instead it’s either stuck on the profile before, or it gets totally mixed up and shows multiple shares from different user profiles in the profile I switched to.
Only force quitting the app and restarting the Apple TV through the system settings, then switching the profile on wake actually switches it properly.
Thanks to @dazes and others who went ahead with a full restore and confirmed that it isn’t a panacea for these issues. I hope the in-app user switching can be improved so that the home screen layout is saved per user (in my case, per Plex Home user), so there’s no need to rely on Apple’s buggy user switching.
Would you be able to submit a diagnostic report from your device and post the code here? This will allow us to try and search for clues in Infuse (and possibly the system) to see if we can narrow down what may be causing this.
During the voting for the multi-user feature, many users voted for switching between users based on Apple accounts, ignoring the internal multi-user implementation of Infuse. The author also favored switching via Apple accounts to implement the multi-user feature, clearly overestimating Apple’s capabilities. With the arrival of Apple OS27, a large number of bugs were introduced, and overreliance on Apple has led to current consequences.
