Yeah, user switching is broken on 26.4. On my Apple TV it would occasionally fail on older versions as well, but since the update it’s become completely unreliable. Here’s the workaround I have to go through just to get some use out of this feature:
- Before switching profiles, quit Infuse (I swipe it away in the multitasking view, which seems to slightly improve the chances of a successful switch).
- Switch the user profile.
- Launch Infuse and check whether the home screen layout has changed. It only works ~20% of the time.
- If it hasn’t switched, restart the Apple TV (Settings → System → Restart).
- Select the user on startup (I have “Profile on Wake” enabled in Settings).
For my use case (I mainly use Plex with managed accounts), I’d immediately stop using tvOS user switching and rely on the in-app switching instead, but unfortunately, home screen customizations aren’t preserved when switching users within the app.
Because of that, I really hope the devs find a way to tie home screen customizations to user profiles in the future. Otherwise, while Apple might eventually fix this (and the other issues I mentioned in another thread), I wouldn’t count on it happening anytime soon.
