When playing a movie/show on the Apple TV and the information is relayed to the iPhone Lock Screen controls, the image displayed is the background art. The metadata image is a wide rectangle which then gets resized into a square and ends up relaying very little information at all. In contrast, the Plex Apple TV app displays the poster art which actually fits in the available space.
Maybe this is a silly question, but I’ve been trying to figure something out for a while. I use Infuse on my Apple TV. When I play something through Infuse on the Apple TV, I immediately see on my (locked) iPhone what’s playing, along with a cropped version of the fanart image I’ve set.
Is there any way to store separate images specifically for the iPhone and iPad so that the artwork doesn’t appear cropped? I hope I’ve been able to explain my question clearly.
Can we please improve the artwork on the iPhone lock screen, which is square and of the lowest quality possible? I reported this issue more than a year ago, and there has been no update from the support team.
But why has this to be an added feature? Most of the video apps such as Netflix, Plex, etc., show the artwork in rectangular format with high quality, and it’s just Infuse that shows some random image in square format.
Agreed, it seems like this would be a relatively simple fix rather than a big change. For Plex users, and presumably wherever else the metadata has been matched, the poster images are already there ready to be used.
@james just tried this. Playing from my Apple TV, it still showing the banner image rather than the poster on my iPhone’s lock screen. Both apps are up to date.
