Prior to Infuse 8.5.4 when I plugged in my portable 13 inch display and played media it would have the controls and art on the iPhone screen and output the actual media to the screen. No video would play on the iPhone screen. Now its just a mirror of what’s playing on the iPhone display which means it doesn’t fit the external display quite right and I have two screens playing the same video (which is annoying, but not as annoying as the resolution issue).
The display is connected with a USB-C cable and I suppose it uses HDMI as it’s transport.
I will also say that at the same time Infuse was updated, I updated my iPhone 15 Pro to iOS 27 RC, but I did run the 27 beta all summer and the problem did not exist.
This is, it seems, linked to iPadOS 27.
Checked on an iPad and iPad Pro. @james , can you reproduce the issue (on any iPad running iPadOS 27 with an HDMI output - and screen mirroring option selected if selectable)
My iPad is on iPadOS 27, with Infuse 8.5.3 and it works as expected there. My iPhone is on 8.5.5 and it’s broken. I don’t think the issue is caused by 27.
I installed infuse(latest) on an iPad running iPadOS 26 yesterday. A movie played as it should, occupying the whole 16/9 screen, over HDMI.
Updated to iPadOS 27 today and the same movie only occupied the 4/3 part of the screen over HDMI.
Same issue with an iPad Pro running iPadOS 27.2 beta and various 8.5.x versions of Infuse.
Playing on external display from iPad via HDMI (with a USB-C to HDMI adapter) is broken, with display mirroring enabled: the 4/3 iPad screen is mirrored to teh TV instead of the video occupting the whole 16/9 display area. It works OK with extended display mode, but that is not available on all iPads.
With the same settings, the Apple TV app and Canal+ app still work correctly.
I believe this is with iPadOS 27 - it worked fine on saturday on an iPad running iPad OS26.x, and not on Sunday after updating to iPadOS 27.0 with the same iPad, media file, USB C to HDMI adapter and TV.
Diagnostic code made with an iPad Pro 12.9" M1 and iPadOS 27.2 beta (24B5089g) and Infuse beta v8.5.6 (5755): 356RT
Am I missing a setting for external display size/aspect? I travel a lot with my iPad and a USB C to HDMI cable. Previously playing stuff in Infuse displayed full screen on the TV. Now it has huge black borders all the way round, I know the iPad can see the whole screen as when I get notifications they appear right at the top of the screen. How do I make Infuse play the video full screen like it used to?
Same issue here when I use my Viture Glasses. Just a mirroring. Really annoying.
Also it would be great at the same time to allow the device to be locked when playing the video. Before, with infuse, the device neeeded to stay on infuse with the display on. When we locked the device, the image froze and there was only the sound.
I don’t have this issue with other app. I can watch a movie and lock my iPad.
+1. I’m using mostly Infuse with my Viture Glasses and the experience is now pretty poor. A quick fix would be appreciated. Especially knowing the fact that other apps, even with IOS/iPad27,don’t have this issue.
Has there been any progress made with this? It’s been nearly a month and two app updates of being unable to use Infuse for my primary use case (which is why I pay a subscription). I’d have blamed Apple, only every other app seems to work just fine in this regard since iOS 27.
