uploaded file via browser, but is not there on ipad?

I’ve just uploaded a file of about 1GB via a browser (Chrome) to my iPad (mini retina with latest iOS). Upload went fine… but after completion the file is not there? But even worse: the available space on my iPad DID SHRINK with 1GB. That’s uncool.

How can I retrieve that space back?

What worked in the end is removing the Infuse2 app, and installing it again. Not a very fancy way though.
