Upgrading Jailbroken ATV

Hi all,

I’ve been happily using an Jailbroken ATV2 with firmware 5.02 for some time.

I now want to upgrade the version to at least 5.2, to get wireless keyboard support.

I can see that Seas0npass should be able to unlock 5.3, but I’m unsure how to proceed with updating and re-jailbreaking a device that’s already patched.

I’m concerned that the Seas0nPass instructions mention that it will “download the latest ATV software” during the jailbreak. Presumably it will only download a version that it can jailbreak and not the absolutely latest version, for which there may not yet be a working jailbreak?

I’ve downloaded a 5.3 IPSW from another site. Can I just restore this to the ATV through iTunes and then run the latest Seas0nPass against it, to jailbreak it? Or am I missing the point?

Just run seasonpass. It will do the upgrading for you. It doesn’t matter if the ATV is already jailbroken or not. Even if you mess up, at this writing, 5.3 can be put on it no matter what version you have.
