Stupid question I’m sure be is updating by the apple TV itself the same as reinstalling atv from scratch ?
When a update is pushed i don’t have the reinstall atv right ? Just update everything from the menu and I’m good to go ?

Correct - if you are offered an update via the FireCore Maintenance menu then you can do the update from there.
