Indeed the poster titles are back, but now I’m facing another issue, which I have tried to solve by clearing all metadata, refreshing, re-adding shares, reinstalling the app, but so far the issue remains. My previous settings before the introduction of the additional artwork language option was “metadata-original” which resulted in all foreign movies and tv shows to show both the metadata and artwork in their respective original languages. Now I’m stuck with “original” metadata but with English posters which oddly enough isn’t even a setting I could set on purpose cause the moment you set metadata to ORIGINAL, artwork automatically switches to Original too and viceversa.
If I go individually in each title and set it to “original” it fixes this issue, I think it’s also important to point out that before this last update, only the foreign artwork was correctly displayed, those were the only ones with titles.
Apparently this fix doesn’t work for movies from Hong Kong, all the metadata defaults to english when set to “Original”, it needs to be forced to Chinese Traditional, but I think that’s a whole other issue with the whole ZH-HK vs Cantonese as original language on TMDB, Mandarin titles show the same behavior as the Korean one used as an example. This is present both in iOS and TVOS.
Yes, that’s a problem. I mentioned it in my previous post in this thread, it seems Metadata and Artwork are linked together as when you choose “Original” in either one of them the other changes automatically to also original. @james Is this the intentional behaviour or is it a bug?
I’d like to set the metadata to English and the artwork to Original.
Note: In order for the new language selection to be reflected in the app you may need to use the option to clear all cached metadata in Infuse > Settings > Metadata & Artwork.
@james Something is still not right. I set the metadata to Automatic and the artwork to Original and then manually edited the metadata of a few movies which caused the artwork to display the original cover. I then followed your advice and cleared all cached metadata and after the time consuming scan of my library to rebuild the cache I find all the movies artwork in English instead of original. For me the only way to get the original artwork is to edit the metadata movie by movie which is not viable when you have over a thousand.
Can you provide a few example titles you are seeing issues with?
There are a few cases we’re aware of where TMDB lists a language as original for a title but does not actually have a matching metadata or artwork entry for that language.
It’s happened to all of them. As I said after clearing the metadata cache and doing a full rescan of my library all the artwork displayed was as if I had chosen English for it instead of Original. Now without changing any settings if I select any foreign movie, click on Edit Metadata, and refresh the metadata then the artwork gets updated with the one for the original language. So it’s not a matter of a mismatch between metadata and artwork rather than a bug that it’s preventing Infuse from pulling the original cover from TMDB the first time around because it does it right when you refresh the metadata manually movie by movie.
@james To recap, neither a full rescan after deleting the metadata cache nor a refresh metadata via Settings>Library>Refresh Metadata pulled the movie artwork for the original language from TMDB. To get it you need to select Edit Metadata on each individual movie and refresh the metadata.
This bug is only present on the movie section, for TV shows the initial full rescan did get the artwork for the original language of the show.

There may be language links to these files that persist after metadata is cleared. This is by design, but I can see how it can lead to issues in this particular situation.
One thing you can try is to remove the existing network share and re-add it. This would allow you to start fresh without these links.
I’ve gone to Settings>Add Files>Saved Shares and clicked on Forget this Share. Then I cleared again the Metadata & Artwork Library Cache. I re-added the network share and it started scanning the share for content. It has just started populating the Home page with Films but the posters are all still in English!!!
This is getting frustrating because each time I rebuild the cache it takes me hours to get things back on track as approximately 15% of the movies do not get recognised or are misrecognised which when you have over a thousand means there’re over 100 entries I need to correct manually. Not to mention that if I want the original artwork I also have to go one by one.
@james Are you guys looking into this or you just can’t be bothered with this bug? Updated to 8.4.8 and the issue is still there. On first scan Infuse pulls down the English artwork and only after doing a manual refresh it gets the original one.
