Unable to play .STRM when added to Links

I am unable to stream URLs ending in .strm from Links:

  1. add example.dev/title/file.strm via Direct URL
  2. navigate to Links and verify that correct metadata appears
  3. attempt to play example.dev/title/file.strm from Links
  4. error:

    An error occurred
    Failed to read the file with URL (Cannot open stream)

…but I can successfully stream the URLs contained within those .strm files:

  1. add example.dev/strm/A1B2C3X7Y8Z9 via Direct URL
  2. navigate to Links and edit metadata given no usable info in URL
  3. attempted to play example.dev/strm/A1B2C3X7Y8Z9 from Links
  4. plays successfully
