That may explain why my first gen ATV 4K committed suicide last week.
Started blinking the white light and then wouldn’t turn on. Oh well, maybe Apple will suprise us and release the new model. 
Fine I guess, as long as they release a new model along with tvOS 27. I’ve been waiting years to upgrade.

Leaves a question, is tvOS27 worth spending money on new hardware at this point?
If this is the best that one of the most powerful companies can achieve in software for an annual upgrade, it just shows how much they don’t care about this platform.
(what is more concerning, everyone else seems to care even less about this type of platform, as Apple TV hardware is still the best experience in market IMHO)
You’re thinking a little bit wrong. Apple has discontinued support for a device that will turn 10 years old next year. It’s been out of stores for a long time. It’s no longer in production. All the people who will need an Apple TV 4K today will buy the third generation of the Apple TV 4K.
In addition. It’s no secret that Apple has focused on optimization in its new operating systems since the release of Liquid Glass last year. There’s nothing wrong with that.
And don’t forget that all the hottest new features will be available when the new generation of Apple TV 4K is released.
Every device has a life cycle that eventually comes to an end. For the Apple TV HD and Apple TV 4K 2017, the time has come.
Do not forget that both of the above mentioned gadgets have quite old hardware. This is great for slowing down software developers for them. Do not forget that AppleTV is not only a streaming device. But it also has services such as Apple Arcade and so on. All of this requires resources.
At first I was also shocked to learn about this … I also found it audacious
I currently have Apple TV 4K 3rd - my girlfriend has 4K 1st gen - it doesn’t affect me directly but I still find it bad because losing software support might also mean that apps like Netflix etc will stop working on tvOS 26 in the future and 1st gen might become a brick
at the same time I would gladly pay for a new Apple TV - even a Pro model with M5 or better which costs around 300-500 and would rival PS5/Xbox Series X so Apple would enter the console gaming market
I still have OG stereo HomePods which are unsupported now because they sound better than 2nd Gen - so I fear I need to buy the new HomePods now when they come out because the software will start glichting when working with tvOS 27 on Apple TV 4K 3rd or the new 4th in the future - so also a little shocked and disappointed that OG HomePods got dropped
But the biggest shocker is still watchOS 27 - I mean I have ultra 3 now but man would I be mad if I still had ultra 1 or watch series 8 (my girlfriend has series 8) - (I upgraded from ultra 1 to ultra 3 when it came out)
Also my iPad Pro 12.9 3rd Gen got dropped
It is even less understandable to drop so many devices across the board … considering it a „Snow Leopard“ year for all software platforms
