TV shows re-added as "Other"

This has happened over many releases, and it just happened again on 2 of my ATK4k boxes. When I started Infuse (8.1), it popped up “preparing library” and started a scan of my Plex server shares and selected libraries (Movies and TV Shows).

But it misidentified the TV shows and has added them as “Other”. I don’t know why, and no combo of unchecking/checking the TV Shows Plex library, or refreshing or deleting metadata and rescanning gets them back.

Only thing that’s ever worked has been dropping the Plex server and adding it all back from scratch.

I created a diagnostic, code YK3XS. Is there a way to resolve this without redoing the Plex config?

EDIT: I should note this is with current PMS version, Infuse in library mode, and only TV Shows and Movies selected from the Plex server.

Any suggestions? Thanks.

When connecting to Plex, Infuse will rely on the metadata and artwork provided by the Plex server instead of fetching its own.

Can you check to ensure these problematic TV shows are classified correctly on the Plex server and have metadata and artwork present?

They’re ALL problematic. When it occurs, there’s zero TV Shows, they ALL go into the “other” category. Looks good on the PMS, and the Plex clients read them properly. It’s just Infuse that pulls the entire TV library not into TV.

As mentioned, if I drop the Plex config entirely and recreate (forget, add/link, reset the libraries pulled from Plex), it will pull them in as TV shows again. Until next time.

Based on the message you see in the app, it seems like the Apple TV was running low on storage space and Infuse restored a backup of your library from the cloud.

By default, backups are set to run every 3 days but there are things that can prevent this process from completing (as Apple is the one who actually controls if/when apps are allowed to run in the background). So what may have happened is Infuse was not able to complete a recent backup, so an older backup was restored instead (which potentially had outdated info from Plex included).

To resolve this going forward you may try the following.

  1. Remove the current Plex share and re-add it
  2. Ensure Infuse is able to scan the files and categorize them correctly
  3. Navigate to Infuse > Settings > Cloud Backup and select the ‘Save Backup’ option
  4. You can keep the ‘Auto Backup’ option enabled to ensure new backups are saved to the cloud for future use.

I have tried it with cloud backup on or off, hasn’t made a difference. I didn’t get a popup saying out of memory and rescanning, just “preparing your library”. Then it scans the TV library in as Other. If I drop the server and redo, the same library scans back in properly as TV. Since the PMS config doesn’t change, it looks to me like Infuse is getting confused.
