TV Show "Prefer Embedded Artwork" no longer working?

I have “Metadata Fetching” turned on and “Prefer Embedded Artwork” Turned On as well and this works for Movies, but TV Shows is still displaying the “Fetched” artwork. Is this normal behavior? If so how can I fix it? Thanks

Embedded is the artwork that is actually internal to the video file. Do your video files have the artwork inside the file or do you want Infuse to use artwork you place in the same directory as the video? That is considered “Local” metadata and is turned off by default now.

Yeah exactly. I use “Subler” to embed all the metadata, subtitles, etc within the video file, including the Artwork. It even shows the Artwork in the mac Finder as a preview thumbnail. And this works great for all movies within Infuse when “prefer embedded artwork” is On alongside “metadata fetching” but only recently I noticed it doesn’t work for tv shows. Is there a way to debug from your end, it could have been from a recent update? I remember this working perfectly a while ago but I don’t have a timeline on this unforunately. I tried troubleshooting by clearing cache and modifying artwork etc but only still works only on movies.

Artwork embedded in an episode file can be used for the episode images, but cannot be used to override things like series posters and fanart.

If you want to use your own artwork for these you can use local images, as described in this guide.

Hey James thanks for the solution. This was confusing me for a while. Even though I’ve been using infuse since v2 in 2014 the way it handles metadata is still confusing. In this case would you guys consider renaming the option in settings from “Prefer embedded Metadata” to “Prefer embedded Metadata (Movies only)” as to avoid confusion? As the embedded metadata didn’t even update the episode artwork. When looking at this forum. So much of Infuse’s support is in regards to metadata. Is there a reason why you don’t simply use any “embedded metadata” for any and all types of video files? For example using subler or a similar tool any video file can have baked in metadata that is standard without using separate .nfo files or xml or specific folder structures or differences in movies and tv shows or any of the multitude of issues. For example on the Apple “TV” app on Mac and other devices if I just drop any movie or tv show with the subler metadata it will simply read the embedded info regardless of folder structure, naming convention, xml or nfo file, no differences in movies or tv shows. Everything is standardized within the file. Just like it is with iTunes and metadata in mp3 or audio files. It’s standard. What is the reason infuse is built this way? Thanks again
