TV Collections not showing in Infuse and Movies are a mess

Hi,

I have the lifetime pro licence as well as a Plex Pass and am currently attempting to get my collections from Plex to properly show up in Infuse. But I’m having troubles.

With Library Mode enabled in Infuse I do see a “Collections” section and when I browse into it it appears to show all of my Movie collections. But for some reason none of my TV Show collections show up at all. Another issue is when I go to the “Movies” section and browse all it shows all the collections there as well rather than just showing the actual movies. I would think the collections should only show in the “Collections” section and only actual movies would show in the “Movies” section? Currently it seems a bit messy in the “Movies” section. Like the “Movies” section currently shows a bunch of collections, followed by all the movies, followed by more collections. When I view my library in the actual Plex app it displays properly with the Movies under the “Library” tab and the collections under the “Collections” tab. Just to note, in my Plex server settings for each lirbary I have the “Collections” setting set to hide collections on the library tab but still show their items. But that doesn’t seem to get applied to Infuse. Also if I change that setting to “Show collections and their items” then for example the TV Shows collections on the Apple TV do show up but only by going to Favourites > Server > TV Shows library. It does not show in the regular Collections section or the regular TV Shows section of the homescreen the same way the Movies collections do.

Then when I try disabling Library Mode I have other issues like the all “Movies” section only showing a single movie but the “Recently Added in Movies - [insert server name]” section shows all of my movies and collections. It also doesn’t have a separate “Collections” section like library mode does. So the collections are still a mess and the “Movies” section isn’t working properly given it only shows the one movie. The non-plex “Recently Added Movies” and “Unwatched Movies” also just show a single movie which happens to be the exact same movie that the “Movies” section shows.

So I’m wondering what can be done to fix these issues? I love Infuse because it supports things like HDR10+ and Dolby Atmos which the official Applet TV Plex app does not. But the current mess with collections is a major issue for me because I use a plex related tool called Kometa to create all sorts of varying collections. But not being able to browse them or browse just the movies alone is an issue.

I know you can get TV collections to show on the Infuse Home Screen if you pin them to the Plex Home Screen. But given that I use a tool made for Plex, Kometa, to create a ton of dynamic/smart collections that’s not really a solution. Having that many collections on the Home Screen would be a terrible experience to scroll through.

Thanks!

Some of your issues can be solved using the Collections settings.

Thanks for the reply. I’ve already got all of those enabled. Also tried disabling the TV shows collection setting to see if it would change anything but it did not

Being enabled is why you’re seeing collections everywhere instead of the individual movies.

If you disable " Group Movies Into Collections" then you’ll see individual movies everywhere EXCEPT for in the Collections in the Library.

Ohhh you’re right. That fixes the messy movies. But still my TV show collections from Plex don’t show up

Hi,

I’ve setup a Jellyfin server, added it to Infuse and then created some collections. However I’m having an issue. I’ve noticed that some collections show up in Infuse’s Collections section and some do not.

Here’s an example. This first screenshot is from the Jellyfin app Movies > Collections

But when I go to the Collections section in Infuse (library mode on) I see this:

As you can see in this example Infuse is missing quite a few collections. In this case the Ant-Man, Back to the Future and Critically Acclaimed collections. And that’s only what’s missing near the top of the list. There is more missing as I scroll down. Same thing occurs on Apple TV. It seems to show the exact same collections that the iOS and iPadOS apps show.

Yet when I go into the Infuse app’s file browser > my server > collections it shows all the collections. As can be seen in this screenshot:

So I’m wondering why the home screen’s Collections section is missing them?

I have found a slight workaround to make them show. On tvOS, iOS and iPadOS if I edit the home screen, remove the collections section, go to the settings and delete the metadata, force close the app, re-open the app, edit homescreen again, re-add collections then all my current collections appear in the Infuse library mode Collections section.

But obviously that’s less than ideal because it means every time I edit a collection or create a new collection I have to redo that whole work around process. I’ve also tried adjusting the various Collections settings in Infuse on and off but nothing seems to get it to work properly.

Lastly, I’ve noticed that when I do edit a collection (like adding a movie to an existing collection) and then refresh the data in Infuse it seems to make some collections randomly dissappear and others randomly appear.

So I’m wondering if anyone knows of a fix for this?

EDIT: Not entirely sure why this post about Jellyfin collections was merged into my post about Plex collections. But if a fix for either can be found it would be greatly appreciated.

I have asked about Plex TV collections several times at this point and have never gotten any insight.

That’s a bummer. It really sucks that neither Jellyfin or Plex collections work properly. I have no idea if Emby does or not. But given that Jellyfin is basically a fork of Emby I’d assume it probably doesn’t work properly either

You sir are amazing! :folded_hands: I have been ripping my hair out trying to figure out what happened to my collections. Your work around indeed fixes the problem. Prior to the workaround my collections where about half of what they should have been and when displayed on the homescreen it would only show about 15-20 collections and at the end there was a “See All” tile. After workaround it shows all collections and the “See All” tile is gone. Not sure if that will help anyone else troubleshoot what is going on. Just wanted to add the extra information and once again say how grateful I am for your post (created account just to post this)

Glad it helped!
