Yeah, all coming together until it all comes to a full stop. Tapping my feet waiting for the last but not least hdd to arrive. I’ve put together some good docs from stuff you guys have wrote and info elsewhere about NAS generally but as I wrote before I don’t know, what I don’t know. That’s the concerning bit. For example, if I currently have several genre folders each containing separate folders for each and every movie, can I duplicate that on the NAS? I’m a Kodi user but even before that I had the folders set up in a logical fashion and turns out Kodi likes it that way too. Each folder contains fan art, poster art plus an nfo plus the actual movie and a sub-folder for actors. It would be messy to have all these movies and associated files sitting in one huge folder. This way it’s very manageable and clear to me what goes where.
I keep reading about the “share” folder. Is it the parent folder for everything on the NAS?
Or can I have say folders named, Action, Animation, Comedy, Drama etc and they are all shared/accessible to Infuse but separate, where neither are a child or parent to each other? IE each hang off the root?
I want to jump in and get my hands dirty but without the third disk I can learn as much as I can but what do I need to know and I’ve got no practical lessons possible.
With RAID 5 do I /should I use a thin client?
With RAID 5 when I add the 4th disk later on it wouldn’t become part of the striping would/could it?
If yes, would the RAID have to chug away for a few days redoing all the previous writes to now integrate the new disk or do I make it a pool resource?
A walkthrough from new NAS through to sitting there selecting a movie/episode from Infuse menu to watch would be bloody nice.

Doubtful you would have to let it chug for a few days though, maybe a few hours.
Others could explain the folder structure better than I can, though I have subfolders within folders (probably what you are calling child folder??)
Infuse lets you “point” to certain folders on your NAS and recognises that.
For example I have a “Movies” folder which inside has movies along with a folder called “live concerts’ which in turn has a folder called " **** artist” which has x amount of concerts by said artist.
Infuse recognises this, so I would be surprised if your structure didn’t work.

What folders was a silly question come to think on it. Must have oldtimerz disease.
I used Infuse for a week and it found my server movie folders no probs so the answer is yes,
I’m good to go.
