So I my niece and I both have Infuse installed on a Apple TV 4K and iPads. When I play a stream from a media player with Infuse selected as the external player (Omni is the app) I can watch a show until it finishes to the very end. There is a show we watch called The curious case of Natalia Grace. This show often ends with the very last few seconds being a very important moment. When I watch it it plays to the very end. When she watches it Infuse ends two or three seconds before the actual ending. Our settings for Infuse appear to be identical. This happens on her Apple TV 4K and on her iPad so it’s not something that’s device related. As I can play this stream on Omni to the very end, it also isn’t an omni problem. I can’t think of any setting on Infuse that would cause this. So I’m just looking for any kind of suggestion as to a fix. Thanks very much
PS, she’s also tested it on other media players such as vidi and fusion, and the same thing happens. Infuse freezes the stream a few seconds before the end
Also I think the problem is that on her infuse the video file never actually ends. It just freezes a few seconds before the end and she has to press back. On my Infuse the video file finishes and takes me back to a main screen. Does that help at all? We’ve already tried disabling and enabling continuous playback on Infuse
Just a test, under Playback settings try setting the Streaming Cache to Legacy on her device.
I don’t know if there’s much point in testing that, because as I said, we have the exact same settings. My stream plays to the very end, her stream freezes or cuts off with three or four seconds to go. Both of us are on ‘auto’ for streaming cache. Presuming this doesn’t work, can I ask to submit a diagnostics and give you the code on this thread?
It really doesn’t hurt a thing to try the cache setting and that may give a clue as to why it’s freezing.
You can always send in a diagnostics report and post the code here if you like. I don’t have anything to do with that part so James would be the one to have to look at it.
Okay thanks I’ll try and get her to do that
Okay she tried moving from auto to legacy. It didn’t solve the issue but it made Infuse behave slightly differently. On auto the very end of a show, a few seconds before the actual end Infuse froze and pinwheeled. On legacy it just stops a few seconds too early and goes back to the main menu. A diagnostics had been submitted with ATVBH code. Can you alert James or whoever needs to deal with this about it? Thanks very much
While I’m waiting for a reply, either here or via email, I noticed this on the beta two version of Infuse.
- Playback: Improvements for handling end of file
So maybe that is something to do with what she’s experiencing?
There are some changes in this area coming in the 8.2 update which may help with the issues here.
Okay thanks, both my niece and I have signed up for Infuse beta, so hopefully that will help
In case anyone has this issue apart from my niece, we discovered the cause of the issue. And it’s possible that only the earlier versions of Apple TV 4K have this issue, as I don’t have this issue on the latest generation Apple TV 4K. In order for a stream or file to end properly, she had to turn off both continuous playback and auto play next in Infuse. (Turning off one or the other had no effect) the pinwheeling and inability to get to the actual end of a stream affected Omni, Fusion, and vidi apps using Infuse as an external player. It’s not really an ideal fix but at least it works.
Edit I spoke to soon, she’s now saying it’s doing the same pinwheeling. I do have a diagnostics report submitted, so maybe they are able to find something
