Tethered boot fails

Hi,

After a little research and seeing some of the pain you guys went through to jailbreak a ATV, I decided it was quicker and easier to pay someone to do it for me. After all they do it all the time so I should be OK …So i thought!

Anyway my ATV2 (MC572B/A running iOS 5.0(4099)) is back now and it won’t boot tethered. On my Windows XP machine the tethered boot option is greyed out and on my iMac Lion (10.7.3) it says “Device found in DFU Mode” and then sit’s there for about 20 mins and finally says “Exploit Injection Failed”.

I am running the latest version of iTunes, the latest version of Season Pass and using a good quality Belkin Micro USB cable.

Looking at the Season pass logs there is an error that occurs but that is way beyond me;

  1. libusb:error [get_endpoints] error getting pipe information for pipe 1: unknown error
  2. libusb:error [darwin_set_interface_altsetting] could not build endpoint table

However the full logs can been seen here - http://pastebin.com/LCNrePrc

Any help or advice you buys can give me would be gratefully received.

Thanks,

Did you run “Create IPSW” first

You need the .ipsw in the seas0npass/download folder in My documents.

Since he paid somebody else to do the jailbreak, I’m willing to bet that he doesn’t have the file.

Hi Guys,

Yep, you are both right I didn’t know or have it because I paid someone else. However I do now and all is working.

That will teach me to cut corners! Thanks for your help.

Cheers,

WB

Hey all, this thread helped me, thanks a lot.  I too was having trouble with my ATV Gen2 not booting up as I was trying with a different computer than the one I used to jailbreak my ATV.  I realized the needed files were not in the new computer, as soon as I went to the computer I used to do the jailbreak the boot worked.  Thanks!
