Sync metadata between 2 Apple accounts in Infuse

My parents and I use different Apple accounts, but I keep having issues with it displaying correctly when uploading new media to Infuse. If I change the meter data, it only affects my account. However, since my parents use the same media storage source, they will also see incorrect meter data but will not be able to benefit from my changes. How can I solve the problem so that the meter data is automatically synchronized without my parents having to manually adjust it? Thank you!

If by changing metadata you are referring to correcting titles (aka picking the correct movie via the edit button) then I would recommend making the change by renaming files so that they get picked up correctly without needing any edits. Adding the year in the file name helps a lot but sometimes you have to include the IMDb or TMDb ID in there as well.

The naming is correct but the errors still occur. But thank you for your comment

Can you give an example? The mapping comes from tmdb API and infuse will use the top item in the list.

here is an example

If you name the files including the year like “The Agency 2024 S01E01.mkv” it will choose the correct one for both. (assuming you have the 2024 series that is)
Don’t forget to name the series folder with the year also

“The Agency 2024”

My naming is always correct because I have developed a program that automatically names the media and corrects any errors. The program then moves the media to the appropriate folders, depending on the available storage space, which it calculates independently.

Does the name of your files include the year?

No, only for the films, I can’t add the year otherwise the email program I wrote can no longer read out the data for the movie database. When I upload something I always get a message with a cover and trailer

You’ll need to add the year on TV shows to prevent things like what you’re seeing. You may need to adjust what ever program you’re using to include the year for TV shows also.

mmmh that’s going to be difficult, I tried that before but failed.

But well, let’s say I can manage it, but then there is still the problem that if there is a mistake, I have to fix it twice. Is there a solution for this? I just want to fix something and not have to do it again to my parents

Do your parents have their own purchased copy of Infuse or are you using the family sharing option?

My parents use their own license for Infuse Pro

I know it’s a lot of questions but trying to look at the overall problem.

Are they accessing your storage remotely over the internet or are they in the same WiFi/LAN?

That’s totally fine, I’m grateful for any information. My parents and I each use a separate network, although I don’t think it matters because the storage is Pcloud.

If I now have an Infuse family account, would that solve the problem?

Honestly, I’m not sure. I’m just mulling through how to correct a remote ATV Infuse app. I haven’t used the family sharing so I don’t know how that works with watched status etc.

oh ok, that would have been too nice too XD.

We use family sharing, but it does not sync the watch status. That goes over the primary iCloud account only. I think the best bet is just to get the program updated so you can rename the TV shows with the year and hopefully that will solve the problem.
