Support for external audio tracks

Mkv files?

@james any plans to add support for external audio tracks in the upcoming Infuse 8?

@james
External MKA audio tracks are very common in anime (especially theatrical versions), but infuse currently does not support them. Apple TV and infuse have advantages in playing animations, and not supporting MKA is almost their only shortcoming. It is currently very popular to play video files directly from the cloud disk instead of downloading them locally, which also makes it impossible for us to use mkvtoolnix to repackage mkv and mka together.
Can you consider supporting external MKA audio tracks?

im also really need this. very please
other player can external audio not only .ac3 even mp3 / mp4 or other audio and video
hope infuse can support this

As an anime fan, I’d like to highlight the importance of supporting external audio tracks (such as .mka files) that often accompany theatrical releases. These tracks typically include:

  • Multi-channel audio options (e.g. 5.1/7.1 surround sound)
  • Director/actor commentary tracks
  • Alternative language dubs

For audiophiles and collectors, this feature is critical for preserving original audio quality while allowing flexible playback configurations. Implementing this would significantly enhance the media player’s professional utility within the anime community.

This is especially needed now that it is so easy to convert TrueHD Atmos to AppleTV-compatible Atmos .ec3 files with deezy.

Don’t forget that you need to click the like button on the first post in this thread to show your support for this suggestion! :wink:

@james hi. Is there a chance that this feature will appear?

Let’s make this feature happen!!

Any progress on this?

Woohooooo, this just moved to “Planned”.

Confirmed for Infuse 8.4:

:tada::tada::tada:

This is now available in today’s 8.4 update. :slight_smile:

Only for specific servers though.

It’s not for Jellyfin

Unfortunately, the Jellyfin API does not currently provide access to external audio tracks. :confused:

These are only available when using transcoding features, and this is something we are hoping to add in an upcoming version.

@james so we can add an audio file (like we do with an srt file) an it will appear in the audio section when playing the movie?

Yes, that is correct. :slight_smile:

Naming would be just like using SRT files.
