Stuttering HEVC/DV on Vision Pro

I noticed certain HEVC, DV (Profile 5, dvhe.05.06) files to be played with heavy stuttering only via PLEX on the Infuse Vision Pro app (currently latest version 8.0.9, VisionOS 2.2). The same files play fine with Infuse on Apple TV and other devices, and also on other Plex/player apps on the Vision Pro.

Not sure if this is a known issue, and which aspect of these files cause the stuttering. Maybe you can have a look? Any help would be much appreciated!

Unfortunately the issue remains in Infuse 8.1 and VisionOS 2.3. And I noticed it also affects HDR videos with the other characteristics being the same as the example above.

and I have accidentally found a workaround: If I start the video, then close infuse and shortly play any video with any other app (or even just open for example the Apple TV app and just browse around for a second), and then open Infuse again (which immediately returns to the problematic video that I quit) and resume the video, it suddenly plays totally fine and butter-smooth. Only if I completely stop and close the playback, and then start it again, the stuttering comes back (until I do the workaround again).

Again, only happens to videos close to the format posted above. And obviously Infuse can play it back totally fine. Just something causes it to stutter until I do this ‘trick’. Any idea why?

I agree, I have the same problem. Watching this format from a PC is impossible, endless stuttering, it was never like this before. It used to be just random flickering on PC when watching DV | 74JB8

If possible, would you be able to send in one of these problematic videos we could test here? Files of any size can be uploaded.

James, yeah, i uploaded. Thank you.

By the way, I noticed that Ipad also has stuttering sometimes, random ones not as bad as PC YK77V

Thanks for looking into this! I have uploaded a sample as well of such a problematic video for the vision pro issue described in the original post. Note that this one plays fine for me on other devices including PC and iPad, and even on the vision pro if I apply the workaround described in the second post.

Also worth mentioning that this issue remains with Infuse 8.1.2 and Vision OS 2.3.2 as well as 2.4 (beta 3).

Sorry, I also found one more bug with the same video profile, if the video is played picture in picture on ipad there are continuous stutters like when playing on macbook.

I have noticed this happens to me as well. It’s been going on for many months. I notice it the most for a panning shot in a movie. It looks like the FPS go down to 12-18 FPS. I can hardly tell for regular shots with minimal camera movement.
It does not happen for all media. I’d say maybe 40% of the things I play.
