Stuck at "Checking Connection"

I’m trying to add another SMB share from my iMac and after entering the name and pass for the device found on the add share screen it shows “Checking Connection” and the spinning wheel and that’s where it stays. I’ve waited for over 5 minutes and it doesn’t error out or bring up the share.

I’ve verified the name and password using VLC and it logs in within seconds and sees the share with it’s content.

Any insight on this?

This wasn’t an issue before 4.2.

Can you check to ensure Windows File Sharing is enabled on your Mac?

This can be done through the System Preferences > Sharing > File Sharing menu.

Yes it is. I added a different share just before the 4.2 update and it worked like a breeze. Now it just sits at the “Checking Connection” screen.
