Strange “watched” status issue

Hello!

Since the latest update of Infuse, where iCloud syncing has been changed/updated/improved, I am struggling to get watched status’s to stick. I will mark something as watched and within a few seconds it will go back to unmatched. A few seconds after that it will go back to watched. Then, after a random amount of time, it will then go back to unwatched!

I have 4 Apple TV’s around the house (all 4K versions), I have them all linked to the same Library as well as Trakt with Scrobbler on.

Before the iCloud changes, all ATV’s would sync watch status quite happily (after a refresh). Now they all seem to lose sight of the watched status at the same time!

I have deleted the old iCloud (Infuse Pro 6) and kept the new Infuse iCloud entry. If you need more info etc please let me know

Thanks

Can you check to ensure you are using Infuse 8.1.6 on all devices and that each device has completed a sync with iCloud?

The initial sync after installing 8.1.6 may take a bit of time but subsequent syncs should be very fast.

Hi @james

Yep, all running 8.1.6. All have also synced with iCloud and all on 18.5 tvOS

@james

This has just happened to me. A couple things I watched yesterday and something I watched this afternoon are now marked as unwatched.

All my devices are on 8.1.6 and I let all of them sync with iCloud after updating.

In all the years I’ve been using Infuse this is the first time I’m experiencing this issue.

Hi @James

Just to say, I’m still having this issue with 8.1.7 but only with TV episodes. Any films I’ve watched seem to keep their watched status.

@james It’s happened to me again today. Last night I watched two files: F1’s FP1 and FP2 sessions, both are in the “Other” category. I’ve gone now to watch today’s FP3 session and last night’s FP1 and FP2 sessions were both marked as unwatched.

Edit: Infuse 8.1.7 on ATV.

Hi @James

Same issue with 8.1.8 with both tvOS 18.5 and tvOS 26 Development Beta

I thought it had been fixed with 8.1.8 but after a few days it’s started happening again ..

I have a similar issue with 8.1.8 on two tvOS. I’ll try to resume a movie from the last playback position and the movie will be marked as watched. If I exit a movie and return to the top menu, the playback position is remembered. If i exit Infuse and re-open, the playback position is lost.

Same issue tvos since icloud sync update. Updated to 8.1.9. Still persists. You can also click a movie or show and back out to previous menu quickly and the previous episode showing not finished time remaining despite being marked as watched. Then after a few seconds disappearing. This bug is not as annoying as the bug that keeps it marked as unwatched. Disappearing reappearing in the unwatched section on the home screen. Also noticed that since moving to tvos 8 from 7. I cloud syncs trys to refresh infinitely. Every 30 seconds to a minute. Never stopping. These errors are on 3 apple tv 4k 1 1st gen 2 2nd gen. All with same bugs. Things ive tried deleting. All infuses on all devices. Then deleting i cloud data. Installing only on 1 box then syncing. Pain in the but to mark what has been watched or not. Then adding 2 other boxes one by one. This worked for the icloud sync issue on version 7. No longer works.

Any update on this? This is one the most crucial features of Infuse. I’m on 8.1.9 on a single appleTV and it’s constantly, often instantly marking my (whole and partially) watched episodes as unwatched.

It is something I’ve noticed many a time with stuff that’s not in Trakt, but now I start noticing normal titles losing their status, or not even updating it..

The last I noticed that with the movie Drive, which I watched a few days ago. In Trakt it was recorded as Watched, yet it didn’t inside of Infuse.

Now Straight Outta Compton…

We have been looking into a few reports of this and hope to have more news soon.

Hey James,

Any news? I notice more and more series and movies forgetting they’ve been watched

Just wanted to note that I have been noticing the same issue since a few weeks (probably since the iCloud sync improvements were released). For me it happens mostly to the previously watched 1-2 episodes of TV shows. Often when returning to the series overview after watching an episode, I can observe the indicators reappearing after a few seconds. I’m using a traditional setup with a simple SMB share, but multiple devices that share the library with iCloud syncing.

We’ve identified an issue which can appear in certain cases and will have a fix available in the next update (8.2.1) which is due out soon.

Thanks for your patience. :folded_hands:

I’ll bn very happy to test it, lol

Today’s 8.2.1 update has a set of improvements in this area which should resolve issues here.

Note: Please be sure to update all devices to 8.2.1 to ensure accurate syncing of watched statuses.

In the latest beta I still see it’s not correct. The only Unwatched status that is correct is Alien Earth. South Park and MasterChef are all watched. Scrolling to the right I see a bunch of other series that are all watched, yet don’t show it
