Step forward/backward one frame

Like mpv, let us step forward/backward one frame using . and , on macOS.

It would be great on tvOS too but there are less options with the Siri Remote.

Maybe double click left/right when video is paused to step through frames?

Cheers

Any chance we can integrate a frame by frame/step mode. I use infuse for home videos, but I’m also looking for a video app that will allow me to review home videos of sporting events with my son. Examples are baseball swings etc that a slow motion frame by frame mode would be easier to show him how he is progressing.

I’m not sure any other app on Apple TV has this, but native apps like ps5 do (even for regular movies).

+1 to this.

There are definitely easter eggs and inside jokes in certain frames of TV shows especially, and it’s just impossible to navigate to the exact frame any other way.

I had the idea of a “quick row” of buttons just above the video timeline here:

E.g. a button to quickly toggle subtitles on and off. Seems like it would also be the perfect place for buttons for frame forward/backward.

But +1 to just using “,” and “.” on macOS.

This would be great on Apple TV. Bring up the step menu only when needed.

+1 for this

+1 for this as well. Even if it’s not “frame by frame”, a shorter forward/backward jump increment (1-3 seconds) using a keyboard shortcut would be appreciated on macos, but frame by frame – at the very least in the forward direction – would be very useful

Just wanted to do this on macOS and couldn’t believe it’s not possible.
