Sorry, Infuse has detected a connection error

Two days ago, I purchased the lifetime PRO version of Infuse, and today I feel like a fool. Infuse on Apple TV and iPhone won’t connect to my MacBook Air. It worked yesterday, but now it doesn’t. I’ve reset everything and followed every step exactly as outlined in this support article: Enabling File Sharing – Firecore Support. After doing that, it worked briefly, but now it doesn’t anymore. No matter how many times I reset, reinstall, or restart my MacBook, it just doesn’t work. The only way I can get it to work is directly on my MacBook. I’m very disappointed that I spent so much money on a product that isn’t working properly.

If someone could assist me, I would greatly appreciate it.

My setup:

  • MacBook Air M2 2023, macOS 14.7 (23H124) (I can’t update to 15.0 due to hardware compatibility issues)
  • Apple TV 4K, tvOS 18.0
  • iPhone 14 Pro, iOS 18.0

what does it say when it doesnt connect to your macbook air.
u use SMB sharing right?

It would really help if you can provide details on how you have Infuse set up so others can assist. A number of things could be in play here. File sharing, network setup, SMB config, etc. I’ve settled on a dedicated ip address for the server and Infuse on the apple tv pointed to that ip in a SMB config.

I’m using SMB file sharing.
My network setup is wireless internet, if you mean that?
I’ve configured my SMB setup just like the article I’ve mentioned earlier.

I would suggest you make the ip address on the MBA dedicated vs allowing dhcp assigning an address. Change the Infuse SMB to point to that ip address.

What we see happens sometimes is the device name (or IP address if you’re using that in Infuse) of the Mac can change. This will happen when the Mac disconnects and reconnects to the network and the router still has an IP address reserved for the previous connection. For example, James-MBP.local may be changed to James-MBP-2.local.

To check this, you can view the address of the saved share in Infuse (On Apple TV this can be found in Infuse > Settings > Shares > Share Name > Edit) and compare that to the device name found on your Mac in System Settings > General > Sharing > File Sharing

Using a static IP as @schlotz suggested above can help with this.

Hi there, thanks for that suggestion. When I try to assign an address with DHCP, I cannot connect to the internet anymore. Are their any rules to apply here?

example, make note of everything on your version of this, then click the drop down by DHCP and select manual. Input the same subnet mask and router but input the ip you want to dedicate. In my case I’d use 192.168.1.xxx <replace the xxx with a number from 100-254

I did all the things you’ve said. I replaced it with 27 instead of 23. Also 100. It just doesn’t work.

If possible, it’s actually better to do this on the router. That way the router can assign the same IP address to your Mac automatically. Your Mac can then continue using the automatic feature.

Most routers have a way to set a fixed IP address, but how the works will depend on the router type.

If you happen to be using a Google/Nest router there is a really handy ‘DCHP IP Reservations’ feature which allows you to see a list of connected devices, then pick the one you want to set a fixed address for.

If I read this correctly it is still using DHCP (first line) that needs to be changed to manual. I do agree with @james going the router method if possible would be better.
