Sonoma Support Gone?

Hi,

I just noticed that Infuse no longer updates through Sonoma (14.8.1) and requires Sequoia (15). Was this intentional? For various reasons, lot of people remain on Sonoma and security wise Apple continues to release updates, at least for now.

Best wishes.

If you choose to stay on an old OS then that is your choice. You should not expect developers to have to do additional testing and be left using old API’s just to support you in your decision. As a developer myself I aim for current version minus 1. If it’s possible for me to support older versions without any additional overhead then I will, but it’s not always possible.

There is no need to refer to what might be my expectations, that is not what I asked. I am just trying to find out what happened as Sonoma support is dropped very recently. I checked the Mac OS release notes and they do not refer to this. It could be intentional or not. I am just trying to find out.

You mean like this post stating which ones they support? The search button really does work!

With the release of 8.3 the supported OS versions will be as follows.

  • iOS/iPadOS: 18.0+

  • tvOS: 18.5+

  • macOS: 15.0+

  • visionOS: 26.0+

Our metrics show ~3% of Infuse users are using versions older than these and it is becoming increasingly hard to justify the time and effort needed to continually test and in some cases come up with fixes and workarounds that are specific to these older versions.

If you are stuck on an older OS version for ‘reasons’ then the last supported version of Infuse can continue to be used and it should remain fairly stable as the system version isn’t really changing. It will also be available to redownload at anytime through the Purchased section in the App Store.

The link you provided leads to “page not found”. I also cannot locate the information you provide through the search. In any case, I do check regulary Infuse Release Notes | Firecore and this information is not there. My version is 8.2.6 and looks like the changes were made with 8.2.7 rather than 8.3.

Yes, MacOS 15 is now required.

You can check on the App store for requirements.
