My apple tv2 is running on 5.1.1 ios 6.0.1 (10A831) software, i have also the blobs for this version.
When i use snowbreeze v2.9.13 , and i download ipsw 5.1.1 Ios 6.0.1. (10A831), i get the message IPSW invalid?
This failure only appears when i select the software version above, when i select an other different sofware version, everything is going well.
I have only the blobs for ios 6.0.1 - 5.1.1, so i have no other choice at this moment.
Please help?
Redown load same firm ware for saved blobs you have… Make sure same ios version and build #
I download in snowbreeze THROUGH ipsw downloader: apple tv 2, ios 5.1.1 (10a831), then click download.
Download starts, then snowbreeze asks: would you like to use it with Snowbreeze?
I click YES, then i see a pop up with invalid ipsw! (c003d36017dbf9ef22fa0151d130)

you can mannualy download the firmware via thread below. FYI if ou have winrar installed on your pc normally it will save it as .rar and not .ipsw you needed deleting the .rar and change it to .ipsw. downloading via sn0wbreez should be fine though, but I don’t like that why I would rather manually downloaded and save it to folder I want so later if you want to use it again it make my life easier.

I still have the same problem with 5.1.1.
I downloaded a new fresh file, changed zip to ipsw.

I have exactly the same problem. Apple TV 2 5.1.1 with saved blobs and Sn0wbreeze shows the same “Invalid IPSW” error

Thank you but I’ve already done everything. Double checked that I indeed had the 5.1.1. ipsw, checked the ipsw checksum and compared with iphonewiki 5.1.1 file, made sure that sn0wbreeze was compatible with 5.1.1 (iOS 6.0.1), and the only reason that is left, as a guide that I found on google says, is bad luck.
I’m stuck with 5.1.1 saved blobs, but not being able to use them with sn0wbreeze. I feel that I wasted 3hrs of what could have been a great Friday evening (sigh).
The 5.1.1 mean that ios version for apple is 5.0.2 have you try to use that one yet. The ios 6.0.xx and apple version is 5.2.0 and ios version 6.1.3 apple tv version is 5.2.1 make syre you have right ios for it blobs you can not use the 5.0.2 apple tv firmware for the 5.2
No, when I say Apple TV 5.1.1 I’m always referring to actual Apple TV firmware, not iOS version, wich in this particular case is iOS 6.0.1 10A831. Like I said I double checked those details. Everything is fine. I will, as a last resource, try in different computer. I’ll report results later.

I just updated an other apple tv2 with my blobs from 4.4.4 to 5.2 with snowbreeze, no problem at all.
But my other apple tv2 running on 5.1.1, i can not jailbreak .
The error only occurs when i use the version 5.1.1. ios6,01- 10a831)
Maybe someone else can also try this in snowbreeze with this version of software, and see what happens…
Well, I did this proccedure with another PC and still get Invalid IPSW in sn0wbreeze. I think it’s safe now to conclude that sn0wbreeze doesn’t work with Apple TV 5.1.1 iOS 6.0.1 10A831.
My last try will be with a guide posted on XBMC official forums that involves the use of tinyumbrella. Have any of you done this? Downgrading ATV2 (if having BLOBS) guide.;
I agree that you can use this method for a few firmware versions but I disagree in regards to any of the version 5’s, except 5.0.2 (9B830) & 5.2 (10B144b)
*note those are firmware app version, not iOS references. If you are unsure check one of the many lists on line. If you are still confused use instead the version ID for example 10B144b, 9B830.

so i think its safe to say its needs to be aversion that has had a working jailbreak for.
eg 4.4.4 5.0.2 5.2 and so on
oops my fauly it was running 5.0.2 not 5.1.1 sorry guys
this method 100% works for 4.4.4 5.0.2 and 5.2 as for other fw versions im unsure as i dont have any devices on other firmware
Right I have had enough people Private messinging me follow the guid if your currently running any apple tv 2 firmware on 4.4.4 5.0.2 or 5.2 and you can jailbreak, as for other fw im not sure sn0w can do that as it would appear that to use this method there must have a been a untethered jaiolbreak relseaed for that firmware but im not sure as i dont have a device to test on any other fw but i would think it wont work, but using the guide below i have jailbroken atv version 2s on 4.4.4 5.0.2 and lots 5.2 and this is after the release of 5.2.1
step 1,
get the ipsw that your apple tv is running from here and put it on the desktop

stept 2,
get ifaith 1.5.5 from here.

then run ifaith and when it asks if its an apple tv 2 say yes.
step 3,
close itunes (keep itunes closed)
follow the on screen instructions
it will pick up your blobs.
when u use ifaith to grab blobs close itunes.
if u encounter errors, like only recognized firmwares just try again thats normal or if it stops on the process just try again.
when the blobs are saved to the desktop go to step 4.
step 4,
get sn0wbreeze 2.9.13 from here

run the latest version of sn0wbreeze and choose the ipsw for your apple tv that you downloaded from iclassified at the beginning that must match your apple tv firmware. (obviosly not 5.2.1 that cant be jailbroke)
then choose i faith mode
in ifaith mode get it to grab your blobs from your desktop that u saved earlier and let sn0w build your custom jailbroke firmware.
step 5,
once sn0w has built the firmware it will run ireb to put your atv in dfu again.
step 6,
open itunes whcich recognize you have an atv in recovery and opnly give you the restore option, this is where you hold the shift key on your pc/laptop and then direct itunes to the new custom built jailbroke firmware sn0w just built and it will put it on yourt apple tv. ( be carefull not to direct it to the iclassified standard version you used earlier cause thats not signed or jailbroke and itunes will thorw out error 3194)
Step 7,
you should connect your jailbroke apple tv 2 to the tv and u will have nito tv app where u can install xbmc but my preference would be to put atv flash black on it and update nito from the maintence app the atv flash will put on and then install xbmc from the maintence app also.

Each version of 5.1.1 , I download from the internet produces the same problem…

I’d also like an answer to this question, as I just acquired an Apple TV2 running firmware version 5.0 (5.0_9B179b, to be exact). I have had ifaith “dump” the blobs in a file, but Sn0wbreeze gives me the “Invalid Ipsw” error when I am trying to jailbreak it. I’d like to know if there is some kind of workaround.
