Not sure what happened, but my SMB connection does not work anymore out of the blue. I have not changed anything at all recently except Apple and Firecore’s software updates to Mac OS Ventura and Infuse. SMB connection now says ‘An Error Occurred RPC Session Disconnected’.
I have rebooted my local machine, disabled and re-enabled the SMB share settings on Mac OS, added and removed the connection in Infuse, nothing seems to fix it. I did a search here and don’t even see any posts about this type of error. I am unable to stream files from my MacBook. Anyone else have this issue recently?
Mac OS Ventura 13.7.6
Infuse Version 8.1.9 (8.1.5233)
Unfortunately, this is a bug introduced in Apple’s recent macOS 13.7.5 update and others are also seeing this issue, even if they are not using Infuse.
You can avoid this by updating to the latest 15.5 version of macOS.
There is also a workaround which involves re-adding the SMB share to Infuse and adding the folder path to the address. Doing this requires adding the share manually instead of selecting the auto-detected Mac from the list of available devices.
For example
Old share address: MacBook.local
New share address: MacBook.local/Movies
Of course you would want to replace the device name and folder name with the ones from your actual Mac.
