Slow when loading Music (e.g. Artists)

Hi guys…

I’m new to the world of Apple TV but realized quite fast that i needed some extra applications on it. My first and best recommended choice was ATV Flash…

However…
I’ve attached a 1TB ext. HDD and copied a part of my music library to it via iTunes. The drive is mounted as the Primary drive on the ATV so i easily can sync the music and video from iTunes.
It all went well and the 150GB music was syncronized just fine. But when i go to “My Music” on the ATV and Select “Artists”… it takes approx. 2½ minutes before it loads the list of Artists. And when i exit that artist it takes the same 2½ minute to load the list again. How come it takes so long…???
The music library is not bigger (150GB) than if i was using the internal HDD. Furthermore i can say that the problem was also there when using just the internal HDD, before i installed ATV Flash…
Same issue when i set it up for streaming via my network (Gigabit)…

Is there any workaround/fixes for this issue.
I’ve tried to look in the forum but all “slow” problems was related to the ATV not responding to the remote… this works fine by the way.

Please help a desperate guy, who was certain he purchased a great multimedia-machine…

What type of drive are you using on the AppleTV? You may try using an alternate USB cable as often times a bad cable can lead to slow file browsing.

Hi there…

I’m pretty sure it’s not the drive or the cable that’s causing the problem.
Like i said… the issue is still there even if i use the internal drive.
But i’ve actually tried 2 different drives: WD Mybook and a Seagate FreeAgent…

I actually called Apple Support but they couldn’t help at the moment… of course i didn’t mention ATV Flash since the problem is there even if i use the internal HDD.

Everything works like a charm when using alternate software like Boxee on the ATV.

I’m in the process of completely restoring the ATV to see if the problem persists… Might be a corrupted library-file or something like that…
