Slow loading from external HD through Airport Extremeq

I currently have an external hard drive connected to my airport extreme.  

I can see the video file on the WD hard drive on my atv2, but it takes a while to load.

 

It takes about 7 to 10 min to load.  

 

Does anyone know how, or if, I can speed up this process?

I can connect to this hard drive through my PS3 (through a PS3 media server) pretty quickly.  But I much rather use my appleTV if possible.

If you’re using the latest version (1.3), this seems to be a known issue, as I’ve run into it as have several others. I submitted a bug report but so far there has been no update or fix released.
