Shows keep getting merged together -- can't split them after

I’ve got a couple sets of shows that have issues being in the library at the same time. One of them has persistently been a problem: “Flowers of Evil”, an anime series. It’ll show up as it should, metadata, subs, thumbnails, and work as expected.

I added another series, “Solitary Gourmet”, a live action drama. “Flowers of Evil” absorbed it and now shows as having two of each episode. I can edit the metadata on the file that’s actually from the new show and change that, but now it flips them all over to “Solitary Gourmet”. I can’t have them be their own thing. They’re in their own folders, and have different filenames for all the videos within. Regardless, it just applies the same metadata for all episodes of both shows. Very frustrating.

“Flowers” has done this before with other shows, and I kind of just give up and delete whatever the other one is, but now I want to know why it’s doing this so I can keep more of my shows accessible at a given time.

Anybody else have this happen, and if so were you able to fix it? Thanks

How do you have the episodes named for each series?

“S01 E01 - Title of Episode.mp4”

They have different total numbers of episodes, and are in different folders. “Flowers” is .mkv and “Gourmet” is .mp4.

Thanks

Your file names are probably what’s causing the problem. They’re off a little.

For the Flowers of Evil series you’ll want to name the episodes

Flowers of Evil 2013 S01E01.mkv

And for the Solitary Gourmet you’ll want to follow the same idea.

Solitary Gourmet (year) S01E01.mp4

You’ll need to add the year for the correct one since there are series with the same name.

Also it may help to delete the space between S01 and E01.

You can add the episode title after the S0xE0x and it won’t hurt anything but having the series name and year in the front will solve most problems.
