I’d like to suggest adding a Shared Device Management page to Infuse.
Currently, the documentation states that a single purchase can be shared with up to 10 devices, and if the limit is exceeded, sharing may be temporarily disabled.
However, there is currently no way for users to:
View which devices are counted.
Remove old or inactive devices.
Reset the shared device list without contacting support.
This can become a problem for users who frequently reinstall their devices. For example, I perform a clean installation whenever Apple releases a major version of iOS, iPadOS, or macOS. After each clean install, I sign in to Trakt again to restore sharing. Over time, these reinstalls may be counted as new devices, even though I’m still using the same personal hardware.
Eventually, users may reach the 10-device limit without actually owning or actively using 10 different devices.
Since this sharing mechanism is implemented by Infuse, it would be very helpful if Infuse could provide a simple device management page, for example:
View all devices associated with the shared purchase.
Display the device name and last active time.
Remove devices that are no longer in use.
Optionally provide a “Remove All” or “Reset Device List” option with appropriate safeguards (such as a cooldown period) to prevent abuse.
This would reduce the need to contact support, improve transparency, and make the sharing system much easier to manage for long-term users.
I looked through some posts in the community and found that someone suggested removing the Infuse authorization from the Trakt connected apps page:
However, to my surprise, that page shows:
“Third-party apps you’ve authorized to access your Trakt account.
You haven’t connected any apps.”
So there was nothing for me to remove.
While experimenting, I unexpectedly found a way to reset the shared device count: deleting my Trakt account and creating a new one. After linking the new Trakt account to Infuse, sharing started working again.
Although this solved the issue for me, I don’t think users should have to delete and recreate their Trakt accounts just to reset the shared device count. It would be much better if Infuse provided a built-in way to view and manage shared devices.
Trakt has been implementing some changes for their API and how connected apps appear. Previously, Infuse was listed in the list of connected apps but currently this list only shows ‘Community’ apps which have limits for free accounts.
Since Infuse is a partner app it is not affected by these limits, but a side effect is that Infuse does not currently appear in this list at all. Trakt expects to have this resolved soon.
FWIW, if you happen to exceed the Trakt device limit for family sharing things should still work. The earliest added devices will be removed from Trakt sharing automatically and there will be a delay before they can be activated again.
