Change .jpg with .faith

I’ve read that thread through and it seems like you need iFaith which is a Windows only app, have I missed something? I am looking for a way to get this working on a Mac too…

Thanks for that. I commented in teh other thread, but looks like redsn0w doesn’t support ifaith files on the Mac…

Sorry for the delay but finally I got the chance to update you guys on the test that I did two nights ago using the 4.4.2 blob. I notice someone has already drafted a general instruction on how to run this through, though I still feel maybe worth sharing the results and some thoughts on it.

1.       Indeed, I was able to use different blobs to install/downgrade to 4.4.2 on the same device (ATV 2G), even after I had upgraded the OS to 5.1.

2.       I still haven’t been able figure out a way to make the untethered boot working.

3.       I was able to load the latest version of aTV Flash on 4.4.2 using a Mac (after failed attempts to install it from a PC)

4.       Some of the features such as XBMC and Couch Surfer showed some instability, not sure if those were related to using a blob from a difference device.

5.       Couldn’t repeat the same steps on 4.4.4. a possible indication that Apple might have improved the FW validation quite a bit in this release (I believe this is also the 1st version that uses the APTicket).

Overall I think these are great news to all 2G owners. Based on what we’ve seen so far I think we can say, with fair certainty, that untethered JB for all iOS versions (5.1 included) is just matter of time. It also seems entirely possible that all future FW downgrades on AppleTV 2G may no longer depend on individually saved SHSH blobs.

The 5.1 to 4.4.2 is a process that works smoothly.   For me I have repeated the same steps using a 4.4.4 blob that was not associated to the apple tv and got it to work.   You will still get the error 1600 in itunes, you still need to boot tethered in seas0nPass(which is weird, but it works because you have to get it out of dfu mode), but I am now running software 4.4.4.   This process is still tethered though, meaning if I unplug it I would have to boot tethered through seas0nPass again but a least you are on 4.4.4 which maybe more stable with XBMC and Couch Surfer Pro.
