Series with spaces or dots in the title are not detected

There are many shows like that, and I there must be many people experiencing this issue?
This is the only thing holding me back from switching to Infuse.

Some examples:

  • Brooklyn Nine-Nine
  • The I-Land
  • Mayans M.C.
  • Border Control - Spain
  • Wu-Tang Clan Of Mics and Men
  • 90 Day Fiancé - Before The 90 Days
  • The X-Files

Renaming everything manually works: the show is detected by Infuse, but that is not very feasible.
I have found no way to make Sonarr replace dots and dashes in episode file names automatically.

I am a developer myself, so I can imagine it is certainly doable to add support for this to Infuse? ?

I’ve had the odd Show not get picked up for metadata by Infuse - Catch-22 was the last one… just manually searched for and confirmed the required metadata in Infuse and it then recognized the other episodes without any input from me.

I use Sickchill as my PVR, it also uses thetvdb for metadata and once setup all works smoothly with show renamed as i specify.

Didn’t know you could do that, so: thanks! ?

But still it remains a manual process for something that seems trivial to implement to make Infuse take special characters into account.

Sorry for the trouble.

Since characters like these are often used as spaces (Metadata 101 – Firecore), Infuse will sometimes have issues recognizing these characters when they are part of the actual series name.

We have a few ideas for how this can be improved, but no ETA just yet.

Ok, thanks for the info. ?
A braindead approach might be: if there is no metadata found: check for title that was tried the first time + the part after the next delimiter (space/dot/whatever), and so on. Easy peasy! ?
